Rezko out on Bail

April 18, 2008 3:50 PM

After nearly three months of incarceration, Antoin "Tony" Rezko is out on bail -- with a lot of help from his loved ones.

Over a dozen friends and relatives of the Chicago businessman posted an $8.6 million bond, secured by roughly 30 properties, including personal homes. Rezko, a longtime Chicago political operative, is on trial for federal corruption charges.

Federal prosecutors say Rezko funneled massive amounts of money into politicians' coffers in an effort to win seats for his friends on important but obscure government panels.  He has been held since January at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in downtown Chicago. Rezko has denied all wrongdoing.

Judge Amy St. Eve set strict limitations on Rezko's freedom. She required him to wear an electronic ankle bracelet to monitor his movements, and restricted him to his house except to travel directly to and from her courtroom.

Furthermore, Judge St. Eve ordered Rezko to notify the court if he is involved in any loans, gifts or payments totaling $5,000 or more.

Despite that, Rezko's lawyer struck an appreciative tone. "We are extremely grateful to Judge Amy St. Eve for reconsidering our motion for bond today," said Joseph Duffy, "and we are happy Mr. Rezko will be able to spend this night with his wife and children."

Did Obama bail him out?

Posted by: sd | Apr 18, 2008 4:17:30 PM

I wonder if any money came from Obama for his bail.

This guy will flee, believe me. He'll find a way.

I wonder how much money Reverend Wright put up? I hope somebody checks. BTW, did the press ever ask Obama's campaign how much they paid Wright for his campaign services?
========================================
Obama, one slimy relationship after another!

Uh-oh! If the media was fair, he'd be interviewed on 60 Minutes. But CBS is in the tank for Obama, so it will never happen.

Bad news for Obama if he decides to talk.

If the media was fair, he'd get an hour on 60 Minutes. But they're so in the tank for Obama its pitiful. And 60 Minutes is still too focused on trying to bring down Karl Rove.

HAD THE BIASED MEDIA NOT PROTECTED OBAMA AND ALL HIS LIES, HE WOULD NOT BE AHEAD. JOHN EDWARDS WOULD BE!

NOW --- AFTER ALL THESE MONTHS --- THE MEDIA IS BEING FAIR AND BALANCED; HOWEVER, IT’S TOO LATE --- HALF OF AMERICA HAS ALREADY VOTED.

HAD THEY KNOWN ABOUT HIS CLOSE TIES TO ALL THE TERRORISTS AND ANTI-AMERICAN FRIENDS, INCLUDING HIS WIFE, OBAMA WOULD NOT HAVE HAD A CHANCE!

IF THE CITIZENS WHO VOTED IN JANUARY AND FEBRUARY HAD KNOWN THE TRUTH, THEY WOULD NOT HAVE VOTED FOR THE LYING HYPOCRITE.

THE MEDIA AND THE DNC HAVE DESTROYED AMERICA.

Reverend Wright is living large due to his great big mansion the church gave him. Also, has ten millon dollar credit attached to his house all courtesy of the church.

Oh, get this his neighborhood is full of RICH WHITE PEOPLE 93% of them. Wow!! Wright can we say hyprocite!! Also reported he has ten millon dollar credit attached to his house.
Maybe Wright & Obama can bail out thier buddy Resko.

I hope President Bush wire-taps Rezko's phones to see how many times he and Obama calls one another!

if i were rezko i'd feel safer in jail. we know obama doesn't want him to talk.

Once he gets out, he will flee to the middle east, I promise you. I can't believe they are letting him out on bail, lol. Obama must have pulled some strings for him.

How much you wanna make a bet, Obama pardons him if he gets elected?

Obama does have connections. Alsamarrae family called Obama's Senate off ice , when Alsamarrae was in the Badhdad jail, then in a matter of days plain cot hes guards took him to the airport, without passport on a plane to Jordon then to Chicago. Federal government isn't talking, Obamas office isn't talking and now Alsamarrae is missing, probably in Syria.

who raised that much bail for that scumbag ? obama has enough money to funnel it to his bail. this is disgusting and obvious. they better watch him like a hawk, could get real interesting.

I am in South Africa and find following these kinds of stories very interesting - especially with the political connections usually associated with them. It is very different from what we experience locally. Can just imagine that a lot of folks are going to ask hard questions about this one.

Maybe Bush bailed Rezko out. Rezko attended a holiday reception at the Bush White House in 2003.

Clinton or McCain for president - what a genius! Keep these people away from sharp objects.

I regularly read Rezkowatch blogspot updates and the information coming out related to Obama and Rezko is interesting stuff. One article examines the Obama's tax returns, both their past jobs, income and real estate purchase of their home prior to the mansion.
