WSJ: US Attorney Scandal Advances

June 16, 2008 11:42 AM

Federal prosecutors are reportedly pursuing their first criminal indictment in the U.S. Attorneys scandal.

The subject, according to the Wall Street Journal: Bradley Schlozman, for a time the U.S. Attorney for Kansas City, who resigned from his the Justice Department in disgrace last August after his role in politicizing the Justice Department was discovered.  Schlozman, who most recently had served as the head of the department's Civil Rights Division, eventually admitted to Congress that he boasted to his Justice colleagues about his efforts to hire Republicans -- "good Americans," as he reportedly called his conservative hires.

The Journal reports that prosecutors investigating the scandal have filed a referral to a grand jury that "relates to allegations of political meddling," and focuses on "possible perjury" by Schlozman.  It does not mean that criminal charges will be filed, only that prosecutors believe there may be grounds to do so.

Schlozman, now reportedly working as a lawyer in private practice in Kansas City, declined to comment to the Journal.

Not all lawyers are dishonest and not all politicians are corrupt. But sometimes a few are, and sometimes more than a few.

The insufferable arrogance of this guy to call his evil let's-pervert-justice friends "the good Americans" as opposed to someone who might have executed true justice being labeled "not one of us". WOW - even in Republican circles that must be truly disgusting and contentious. Elitist within the elitists.

The double standards of the Left never cease: Does NO ONE remember that President Clinton, upon attaining the Presidency, immediately FIRED ALL 90+ serving US attornies only to replace them with hirelings of his choosing? No a scintilla of legal charges were levelled against him. But, when four or five or nine or whatever US attornies were fired under the Bush Administration, the Dems have run a four-year-plus Pogrom against the US attornies involved. Indeed, it has well been said: The Dems have criminalized being a Republican. Yes: Conservative Americans who love the God, the Constitution and guns are generally "good Americans," despite their being heartily despised by the Leftists in this country.
