Troopergate Probe OK, AK Supremes Say
October 09, 2008 5:08 PM
The Alaska legislature's Troopergate probe into Gov. Sarah Palin may conclude its work and release its findings, the Alaska Supreme Court decided Thursday.
The justices heard a last-minute appeal from several Republican legislators, supported by a Texas conservative legal group, to stop the investigation. A lower court had ruled against the lawmakers last week.
Peter Maassen, who defended the legislature and its investigator against the suit, provided a copy of the Supreme Court's order to ABC News. The court's decision, he said, had not yet been released.
"The decision is gratifying," said State Sen. Hollis French, D-Anchorage, who is managing the probe and was named in the suit. "The justices affirm no one’s rights have been violated and the investigation can conclude."
A spokesperson for the court declined to discuss the ruling because the plaintiffs had not yet received a copy of the order.
The legislature's special counsel is set to deliver his findings tomorrow to the bipartisan panel which authorized the probe in July. The investigation, which looked into allegations Palin misused her power to pursue a personal vendetta, turned into a political and media circus after Palin was chosen late August to be the Republican vice presidential candidate.

Do any of you really want to know who backed terrorists??? Google McCain Contras....Remember the Iran Contra affair....Oliver North....Drug and weaponsdeals...rapes...torture... killing of doctors, nuns, teachers... McCain was a member of and sat on the board of directors of the right wing fringe organization who back these terrorists with their own money...lobbied for them in Washington...He did not just have a casual relationship with someone who was a militant antiwar protester when he was a grade schooler...McCain was up to his armpits in this...knowingly!!!!

Here's a quote from Palin's own personal report on her view of Troopergate and discussing: ...his "long history of unstable and erratic behavior." --- I thought she was talking about McCain!!!!
I guess if the shoe fits, wear it.
This will make John even angrier --- ol' MR. GRUMPY is not going to be happy after his nap!!

Wooten deserved to be fired, even Monegan said it, but he didn't do it. Wooten tasered a 10-yeat old boy, drove drunk and threatened murder against the governor's family, taunting her with " you can't fire me, I'm a trooper." Guess what. No one is above the law, and so both of them got what they deserved. He served at the "pleasure" of his boss, the governor. She had the legal right to "fire" him for any reason she believed was right.
When someone breaks the law they deserve to be fired. Wooten was a threatening thug and Monegan was letting him get away with it. He got fired for being incompetent, which he deserved.
You liberals - if someone was threatening the life of YOUR family, drunk and carrying deadly weapons, what would YOU do?

Nobody but Obots left to comment on this hatchet job by Hollis French and Obama Blotter.
Much ado about nothing.

What gets me: Had the Palins done nothing about that crazy trooper (who REALLY needed to get fired - there is no question about that), they would be criticized for that as well! That is what is so ridiculous about this whole thing. And do not forget that Monegan's position is a politically appointed position, and the Gov is SUPPOSED to be able to hire / fire as she wishes. Furthermore, the ex-commisioner was even offered another position (which Palin certainly didn't have to offer either).

Sarah is "guilty by association"! She hung around all involved therefore she is guilty.Isn't that what she & McCain are saying about Obama & Ayers?
What's good for the goose must be good for the gander don't you think?

Reagan ruined the US economy, Bush Sr. threw America into a recession and Bush Jr has now completely DESTROYED the USA! No more Republicans! No way, No how, No McCain, No Palin!

Palin should be ashamed and embarrassed, instead she is taking cheap pot shots at Obama. Nice going Palin, your own state and the Alsaka state police don't even want you for VP!!

Republican ticket: Keating Five Alumnus for President & Troopergate Governor (and her intermeddling husband) for VP.
And, even their own campaign insiders don't want them to talk about the economy (oh yeah, the economy, that has been in the news lately, hasn't it?) because they "can't win" if they talk about it...

Senator French,
You sir are a slime ball. You took the best thing to ever come out of your State and tried to tarnish it but to no avail. Americans are smart enough to know what a politically motivated witch hunt is, and we have no confidence in your findings. You have no honor nor do you garner any respect for what you have done. A Judas is more like it; you sold your soul for a few shekels to what Louis Farrakhan just anointed as the messiah, Barack Obama. . You sir have become one of his legions with all the other lemmings in ACORN and Chicago politics.
Very Sincerely,
Bill

State employees and state machinery should not be used or abused for personal gain or to settle personal scores. This is a clear open and shut case of abuse of power.
This case gives character to that wise saying that "....Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely.....".
John McCain would have been better served with Mitt Romney or Mick Huckabee as his running mate.
Political correctness may have compromised John McCain's bid for the Whitehouse.

According to the AK Legislative Council report, Gov.Palin abused the power of her office because she "failed" to prevent her husband Todd, from exercising his First Amendment rights. Apparently the Legislative Council believes that Todd does not enjoy the FIRST Amendment Right to communicate political "concerns" directly to appointed members of the Governor's administration. The sheer hypocracy of the Legislative Council's decision "REEKS" of double standard. Apparently Hillary CLinton can sit in Cabinet meetings when Bill was elected to his first term and advise extensively on health care and other issues. But NOOOOOO, Todd Palin is supposed to keep quiet and not express any concern regarding this "FOOL" trooper Wooten, who TAZED his own stepson. Where the HELL is the ACLU when you need them?

I think the worst part of this report is the similarity in the way Palin abuses power and the way Cheney did the same thing in the Justice department. We've already seen what happens when we have VP who thinks they are above the law. Nobody should be above the law! Anyone who is shocked by this should be doing whatever they can to keep this dangerous person out of the white house - volunteering, donating, and talking to their friends! Once the election is over, it will be too late.

"Compliance with the code of ethics is not optional" is one of the best lines that I have read, and so very true. I question how Sarah Palin can show her face to the great people of Alaska. How can she look them in the eye? How can the people of Alaska ever trust her again? How can she face her family, her friends and her supporters? How can Sarah Palin smile and pretend that she has not told so many, many, many lies to the American People but worst to the people of Alaska. Sarah Palin should consider removing her name from the GOP ticket and stepping down as the Governor of Alaska. But she will not for she adores the crowds and the lights of Hollywood on her. But the bottom line is that one is ethical or one is not and now it has been proven that not only is Sarah Palin not ethical she is attempting to entice hate among the crowds.

We have a very, very dangerous person who is running for VP....simple fact. Sad but true.

May Palin go packing back to the darkness from wince she came. If you can't read and write proper English are you smart enough to be voting and understand the issues? It should be from whence she came. Wince is what I do when I see how illiterate so many voters are. The dumbing down of America by those who loves to make excuses for fools the liberal Democrats.

Well, if Mr. Bush didn't "out smart it"
for the umpteenth time. U.S. Goverment functions that are reported in as operating correctly are not
"Investigated" by any of the above.
Correct answer: D) They don't teach it at the Hillary University. But don't
be concerned, her State Union will manage the money for us.
