Franken May Seek Senate Intervention
December 02, 2008 3:07 PM
ABC News' Teddy Davis Reports:
For the second day in a row, the Al Franken campaign raised the prospect of asking the United States Senate to inject itself into the Minnesota Senate race by counting absentee ballots which Franken believes have thus far been improperly disqualified by local election officials.
"Every vote legally cast should and must be counted whether that happens at the county level, at the canvassing board, in the courts, or in the United States Senate," said Franken recount attorney Marc Elias.
While Elias said that Franken is taking "nothing off the table," the Democratic election lawyer said that Franken's campaign has not been in touch with Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid or the Rules Committee about the circumstances under which the Senate would be willing to inject itself into the Minnesota race.
Elias said that the Franken campaign's contacts with Washington Democrats have thus far been limited to giving the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee a daily update on where the recount stands in Minnesota.
Under Article III, Sec. 19 of the U.S. Constitution, each congressional chamber has the power to be the "judge of qualifications and elections of its members."

In whom does Al Franken put his trust? It's obvious that it is not with the good people of Minnesota...the people he hopes to represent. Otherwise, he would allow the local election officials (most of whom likely are volunteers) to complete their work before threatening to pursue other avenues and "taking nothing off the table."

Al is right to demand that the wrongly disqualified absentee ballots be counted.

It is the Republicans who are saying that certain ballots should not be counted, and Franken who wants to trust "the good people of Minnesota."

A wise man once said - it doesn't matter how many votes you get. What matters is who counts the votes. That wise man was Joseph Stalin.

Poor Al - doesn't he know that Harry Reid is all bark and no bite??!!

Just use one standard to count the ballots - the standard that was in effect on Election Day.

Franken is such a goon. He will stop at nothing to steal this election. He ought to be ashamed of himself.
You lost, dude. It's over. Coleman wins. The end. You can count and recount and count again. You can pound on your chest with Harry Reid all day and night. But you lost, and if you end up in the Senate it will be by illegitimate means.
Go give yourself a daily affirmation and stick to making faces and telling jokes.

Al Franken is an idiot anyway! Surely the Dems could have come up with someone better than him! Apparently not! I guess there's a shortage of Democratic candidates without some sort of screw loose. Look at Nancy Pelosi. What an absolute air-headed ,fake-smiling, media hog!!Oh well, because of us rednecks that cling to our religion & guns, there will be no fillibuster proof Senate for the Dems! Yeah!!!

How many more "missing" Franken votes will be "found?" This has become a joke. Will Alice find some more ballots under a toadstool in wonderland? How many registrations were completed by ACORN workers? Did Mickey Mouse vote yet or was his ballot thrown out because he used Goofy's address? Let's go back to the old voter lever technology. At least it was tamper proof.
