Meghan McCain to Rove & Cheney: 'Go Away'
April 23, 2009 4:07 PM
ABC News’ Rick Klein reports: Meghan McCain guest-hosted ABC's "The View" Thursday and brought some blunt advice for Karl Rove and Dick Cheney: "Go away."
"It's very unprecedented for someone like Karl Rove or Dick Cheney to be criticizing the president," McCain said. "My big criticism is just, you had your eight years, go away."
Meghan McCain, the 24-year-old daughter of Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., last week appeared at a gathering of gay Republicans to appeal to the GOP to support gay marriage, as part of a broader effort to reach out to a new generation of voters.
She's also been engaged in something of a public debate with Rove, starting with a recent Daily Beast column where she called it “creepy” that former President George W. Bush’s top political adviser was following her on Twitter.
On "The View," she reiterated her view that the GOP needs to remake its image among younger voters -- with new faces and voices.
"We have to branch out, or the Republican Party will become obsolete. It’s just facts," she said.
What do you think? Who’s a more effective spokesperson for the Republican Party these days -- Meghan McCain or Karl Rove?

You go girl!!!
I HATE the Republican Party, but I think she is very honest and has a lot of credibility....
As long as Cheney and Rove speak, the Republican party will be in shambles...

As a life long Republican, I have realized that the Republican Party no longer represents me either Missie. I have discovered that I am a conservative and the Republicans no longer represent us any more than the Democrats do.
Both parties have abandonded the Constitution and have allowed judges to be the deciding power in this country instead of being an equal partner. As forhomosexuals, they are the curse of every civilization throughout history that abandons God. (there that ought to stir up some hornets - another useless insect)
By the way Missie, the Constitution and morals are absolutes and do not change over time, just for the convenience of deviates.

her daddy is an Idiot, so she is most likely an idiot also

Well I am what I would consider the "young generation of voters" and I am here to tell you that making gay marriage legal is not appealing to me, and will not sway a vote.

An objective, liberty-loving republican who is not afraid to speak the truth. Man that's baller.

I would like Cheney and Rove to go away, but I would like them to take Meghan with them. Since when is she a GOP spokesperson? She hasn't been elected to anything and therefore hasn't proven herself to have any credibility.

Go away Megan! :) In all seriousness, it's a bit silly for her to think ( and you other "posters" here) that she is some sort of expert. The ONLY reason she gets any attention is because she is John McCains daughter and is DEFYING her daddy. It sells and gets headlines. It's VERY disrespectful for her to so insult people who have made a lifetime of serving this country. I HATE Barney Frank, but I still owe him some respect for serving this country. Grow up Meghan! You commenters should grow up a bit too, and realize that part of being an adult means being respectful even to those with whom you disagree. Is civility and decorum dead? Among the rabble... yes.

While I uphold everyone's right to their opinion, this young woman does not speak for the majority of conservatives. As a "young voter" myself, I can say that she certainly doesn't speak for me.

Unprecedented?
Have we already forgotten Al Gore's fire-breathing, public scoldings of The Bush administration?
Note to Miss McCain: I'm sure you're a nice young lady and all, but wake up... You're only receiving media attention because you're bashing Republicans. You're being used. The second you're critical of Obama, you'll be kicked to the curb and written off as an idiot by the same people who are now trumpeting you.

She's an attention seeker.

Meghan doesn't realize it yet but she's harming her party by piling onto the 'let's keep talking each other down' train. She is playing into the hands of the opposing party, and sadly, she loves the attention so much she can't see the reality. She's really self-absorbed, all her blog posts are about her and how cool she is. Come back in 10 years Meghan with some life and work experience and a little less spoiled rich girl perspective and you might make a decent addition to the public face of the party.

I think someone is loving her 15 minutes of fame a bit too much. If Rove and Cheney disappear, may they take you with them, you vapid little attention seeking girl.
Posted by: Oh Please | Apr 23, 2009 5:07:21 PM
The more she speaks the more I like her. While some of you republicans tell her to go away? Trust me, she's right. Rove and Cheney are doing you far more harm.
Posted by: FedUp | Apr 23, 2009 5:09:08 PM
I am sorry but as a younger republican I do not agree w/ her stance on gay marriage...I do not think either her or rove or cheney make good spokesman for the republican party. Go out to small town america and you will find out what the average republican thinks. I do not think marriage is for gay people. They can have their "ceremonies" or "unions" that allow them to have the same medical and seperation and death benefits as the hetero group, just don't call it marriage. This girl is just trying to get the view ladies to like her. Not sure if she could stand up to their perspectives so she says something to make them agree w/ her.

I think it might be a first for me to be saying that I'm in agreement with a Republican... but Meghan has a very good point. The only reason that young voters have for being Republican is because dear ole Mommy and Daddy vote that way. The Republican party does not appeal to young voters in any shape or form whatsoever.

I agree with her. Rove and Cheney are blowhards that have caused a lot of problems.
