Brain Food: Bill Clinton Chows on Double Burger, Onion Rings, French Fries, Milkshake on Eve of Obesity Conference
July 27, 2009 8:14 AM
ABC News’ Rick Klein reports:
Former President Bill Clinton is one of the featured speakers at today’s inaugural “Weight of the Nation” conference in Washington, sponsored by the Centers for Disease Control to focus on obesity prevention and control.
Clinton’s battles with his own weight, of course, are famous -- punctuated by fast-food runs during the early days of his presidency, and the heart bypass operation he needed to undergo in 2004.
How to fuel up for an appearance like today’s conference?
According to The Washington Post’s “Reliable Source” column (which has the photo to prove it), the former president waited in line Saturday night at Z Burger in Washington’s Tenleytown neighborhood, posing for photos and signing autographs as his take-out order was readied.
His order: double burger (hold the mayo), onion rings, French fries, and an apple-pie milkshake.

who cares? Nothing wrong with a burger or fast food every once and a while. It's all about balance. It's the idiots that eat this stuff for every meal (and feed it to their kids) then expect us to cry for them cuz they are fat that are the problem. Moderation in all things...words to live by.

Why the surprise? Progressives never think that anything applies to them. All the restrictive policies and big government are for our good not theirs! Silly ABC

Ha! This is funny stuff. You would NEVER have seen this kind of thing about a democrat before the OBAMA-MEDIA credibility meltdown. Unfortunately it's just too litle, too late, as you can tell most of the comments will likely be from "offended" liberal posters who would have belly-busted if GW had done it.

I like burgers, a double is even better. But french fries AND onion rings? With the shake? That's too over the top even for me.

When you are at a level above everybody else, you don't care. You don't need to "walk the talk", like Gore on energy consumption (with his four homes and jet travels).

you actually amused me this morning, Rick. thank you for the chuckle.
I'd much rather know what people are masticating, than here about Sarah Palin.

Not too smart for someone who has already had heart surgery.

The mantra of the liberal elite. "Do as I say, not as I do, for I know what's best for you."

An apple-pie milkshake? That just sounds nasty....
Posted by: Lee | Jul 27, 2009 11:57:04 AM
Is this any worse than the media following Obama to a burger joint ? Anybody following his diet habits ? Bet that burger ranks right up there with the Marlboro Obama is outside enjoying !
Posted by: halfmn | Jul 27, 2009 12:13:48 PM
so? it's not like he eats that meal every day. and clearly he's not obese.
Posted by: bellexoxo | Jul 27, 2009 12:16:03 PM
Is it really any of our business what he eats???? He did a wonderful job as president and now he do do whatever he wants to.

All you have to report is that Bill Clinton had a buger and fires???? OMG, what a slow news day.
Posted by: yvonneh120952 | Jul 27, 2009 1:16:25 PM
Big deal, everyone is allowed to eat what they want from time to time. It's ridiculous to criticize him for this!!!!
Posted by: Davina | Jul 27, 2009 2:26:38 PM
Clinton; "I'll take an 'apple pie' milkshake". Monica (the counter help); You want an apple pie AND a milkshake? Clinton; No I want an apple pie milkshake. Just blend it all in together. I like my milkshakes kind of 'chunky'.
