Limbaugh: Obama "Failed" in Copenhagen, Unmasking Weakness and Ego

October 02, 2009 1:44 PM

ABC's Steven Portnoy reports:

Rush Limbaugh acknowledged his glee in telling his talk radio audience Friday that the International Olympic Committee's rejection of Chicago's bid for the 2016 games is a metaphor for President Obama's weakness and an illustration of his "Mars-sized ego."

"Who knew the Olympic Committee was a bunch of racists?" Limbaugh joked at the start of his program, saying he was waiting on official confirmation from former president Jimmy Carter, before turning to the gravity of the nation's embarrassment.

"When you stop to think about it, folks, doesn't it make sense?" Limbaugh asked.  "Our president, Barack Hussein Obama, has been running around the world for nine months telling everybody how much our country sucks.... Why would anybody award the Olympics to such a crappy place?"

Calling it the "worst day of his presidency," the nation's number-one conservative talk show host said Obama "has failed" and "wasted his country's time, and his prestige."

"Obama demeaned the office of the presidency, going on this sales pitch,"  Limbaugh said.

Chicago's loss, despite Obama's in-person plea, is a "metaphor for weakness," Limbaugh told his millions of listeners, one that reveals Obama's naivety about the impact of his personal popularity on the world's impression of the United States.

"[Obama] doesn't realize that the hatred for this country has not abated.  There may be some love for him, but their certainly is no respect for him," Limbaugh said.

"He doesn't understand how delighted the world is to make him look foolish in order to take a swipe at our country," Limbaugh said of the president.  "We've got a two-year-old manchild with a Mars-sized ego, which today crashed and burned."

The IOC's rejection of Chicago's bid was a "bitch-slap," Limbaugh said.  "Upside the head."

"This is a moment of weakness, and weakness invites trouble.  You think I'm laughing?  What do you think's happening in Tehran?"

And Rush doesn't have an ego?

Posted by: Huh | Oct 2, 2009 1:57:55 PM

"Mars-sized ego." Oh my Lord there are so many places to go with this it is unreal. I will start with a classic. IT TAKES ONE MARS SIZED EGO TO KNOW ANOTHER RUSHPUPPY.

Rush is living in a glass house.

Posted by: ralph | Oct 2, 2009 2:13:15 PM

Rush is Mr. Ego himself! And if we had been successful that would have been a lot of money made in the US for hosting the Olympics. Rush seems to be happy about this...I'm so sick of this egomaniac bashing the president. It's people like Rush who make us look petty and Unamerican. Didn't hear him when Bush and Cheney were ruining this country!

Posted by: Barb | Oct 2, 2009 2:15:33 PM

He is right Mymood I'minajihad is laughing his butt off at BO for putting himself in a situation to be humiliated like that. It was stupid for him to go to Copenhagen and gravel for the Olympics. The yolks on you Bo.
Barack Hussien Obama MM MM MM LOL!

Rush is just telling the truth, Obama thinks the whole world is in love with him, he's an idiot. The whole world is laughing at him...Way to go Rush!!

Posted by: Sara | Oct 2, 2009 2:17:40 PM

If the President had not gone, Limbaugh would have criticized him for that. As my momma once said "never listen to anything said by a fat junkie."

Posted by: billp | Oct 2, 2009 2:19:22 PM

#2 Hey Rushpup atleast he can fit his arse in a chair. Talk about mars sized.
Rushpuppy's ego is so large it needs its own solar system.

I think the reality of the job is setting in...being liked and being effective are not one in the same.

Posted by: josh | Oct 2, 2009 2:22:32 PM

OK, I'll say it again: I don't listen to rightwing radio or watch FOX or CNN, so how come I am treated to a daily dose of Limbaugh, Hannity, Beck and Palin? How come we hear the opinions of these uneducated, inexperienced in policy making loudmouths, but we don't ever hear the thoughts of the Noble prize winner on Obama's own Cabinet, or the musings of Governor Baldacci of Maine?

Posted by: Amy in Maine | Oct 2, 2009 2:23:37 PM

Limbaugh shows everyday he is pompous ass.

Posted by: indy_voter | Oct 2, 2009 2:25:06 PM

Amy in Maine: Don't you realize the reason we hear the opinions of these no nothing loudmouths is because the average American thinks this is entertainment. They would not have the brains to understand educated intelligent people. They would rather listen to nitwits badmouthing our president when all that does is make us look like a nation of idiots.

Posted by: Barb | Oct 2, 2009 2:26:30 PM

Obama made a fool of himself, his wife and Oprah. Where would you rather attend an Olympic event.. Chicago or Rio? My point exactly.

Posted by: Mike Jones | Oct 2, 2009 2:26:52 PM

I meant "know nothing".

Posted by: Barb | Oct 2, 2009 2:27:04 PM

Bush's fault. Republicans also.

Posted by: Mike Jones | Oct 2, 2009 2:27:23 PM

Rush might have an ego...like many people...but he's not making decisions that effect 300+ millions of people based on his egotism...there's a difference lib

Posted by: phillysmart | Oct 2, 2009 2:31:19 PM

I don't know about the reality of the job setting in...but I do know that this man is grossly underqualified for the job and thats what you are getting ...an inexperienced executive...I just hope the country survives him

Posted by: phillysmart | Oct 2, 2009 2:32:56 PM

From the state of Maine's website: words from Governor John Baldacci:

"Maine is already New England’s leader in developing land-based wind power.

We represent 95 percent of all the wind power in New England so far...
And our offshore wind resource is even greater, with the potential to produce as much electricity as 45 nuclear power plants. Our tidal energy resource is large, strong and predictable, and a pilot project is moving forward near Eastport in Washington County.

The momentum is clearly with us."

Now you have heard from Limbaugh AND an elected leader with something to say. This is what's happening in REAL America (take that however you wish.)

Posted by: Amy in Maine | Oct 2, 2009 2:33:34 PM

Philly "Rush might have an ego...like many people...but he's not making decisions that effect 300+ millions of people based on his egotism...there's a difference lib" True BUT there are probably 300 million or more of his followers willing to do what ever Rush says to do. That is dangerous.

Posted by: jenny | Oct 2, 2009 2:33:46 PM

Wow, Rush is a true patriot.

There are so many things wrong with this vile and poor excuse for a human, let alone an American.

Besides the incredible hypocrisy he is as divisive as he is mean-spirited, preying on our weaknesses and ignoring the good in us.

But then, maybe there is little good in those who frequent his show.
