More Protesters Arrested at Lieberman's Office
November 10, 2009 11:27 AM
ABC News' Z. Byron Wolf reports: Another tiny group of pro-reform health care protesters was arrested this morning at Sen. Joe Lieberman's office - except 5 protesters were arrested instead of 9.
Several of last week's protesters remain in DC jail, according to organizers.
Kai Newkirk, founder of Mobilization for Health Care for All and John Mohrbacher, a Connecticut resident, are refusing to cooperate with police by withholding their names. And Newkirk, according to the people at Mobilization for Health Care for All, is refusing food until Lieberman agrees to meet with him. It could be a long wait.
Lieberman, a Connecticut Independent, said on Sunday that he would oppose Democrats' health reform bill in the Senate as a matter of conscience if it includes a government-run insurance option to operate alongside private insurers.
Many insurance companies have headquarters in Lieberman's home state of Connecticut, but Lieberman says he opposes the public option because he does not think the answer to health reform is a new government entity.

Some of these completely innocuous protesters remain in jail? So Lieberman controls Capitol police as well as the health care debate? What a nut...

Even as a "Very Strong Supporter" of Health Care Reform, given the OPTION to Withdraw Liberman's Chairmanship and Remove his Caucus relationship with the Democratic Party (forcing him home to his Republican't Party)....... I would personally choose to SEVER ALL RELATIONSHIPS with this Crook!!! He shuns his Constituency in favor of Catering to his Monopolistic Connecticut Insurance Cartel. In my opinion that is Not Only Improper... it's Sinful!

Hang in there Joe. You are a significant voice in exposing the misinformation and deception of those supporting the bill.

Strangely, when Republicans want a vote on a bill, they go on and on about how the bill "deserves an up-or-down vote"... yet when Democrats want a bill to reach the floor, suddenly threatening a filibuster doesn't seem so bad... Remember that refrain whenever Bush wrote a bill he wanted passed?
Republicans called it the "Constitutional Option" when they thought about using it, and now they're calling it the "Nuclear Option" again now that the Dems are talking about it.
Hypocrisy, thy party is Republican...

Maybe we should rename the "healthcare reform bill" to a "war on better healthcare for all" since "war" is in the title, repubs would be all over it and pass it!
