ABC News’ Matthew Jaffe reports:
Technically Vice President Biden came to Capitol Hill Wednesday to swear in senators elected last November – but he also dispensed dating advice to young girls. Again. And again. And again.
As he posed for photos with everyone from Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid to Alaska Republican Lisa Murkowski, Biden repeated time and time again his favorite message to young girls.
“Just remember, no dates til you’re 30,” he told a young girl with Sen. Barbara Mikulski, D-MD, who yesterday became the longest-serving woman senator in history.
Then it was Sen. Chuck Schumer’s family’s turn.
“You’re turning 11? Just remember, no dates you’re til 30,” Biden said.
And Reid’s family…
“Hey Mia, how old are you? Just remember, no dates til you’re 30,” quipped the loquacious vice president.
And then the family of Sen. Michael Bennet, D-CO.
“You remember what I told you the last time I saw you? You remember what I told you? No, not smile,” Biden corrected. “No dates til you’re 30.”
And Murkowski’s family. And South Dakota Republican John Thune’s family. And so on and so on, for a number of other senators’ relatives.
As if Wednesday’s display was not indication enough, Biden has loved telling that joke for years. It was one of his favorite lines as he crossed the country during the 2008 campaign.
