Interior Secretary Ken Salazar Will Serve As 'Designated Survivor' For Tonight's State Of The Union

ABC News' Michael Falcone reports:

Interior Sectary Ken Salazar is the cabinet official who was chosen not to attend Tuesday night's State of the Union address, according to the White House.

The White House typically appoints one senior member of the cabinet to be absent from the speech in case of a catastrophe in the House chamber where the president, most members of the House and Senate, the Supreme Court and other dignitaries have gathered.

Last year Housing and Urban Development Secretary Shaun Donovan was the cabinet member chosen as the "designated survivor." Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, who was traveling in London, also did not attend.
