Given 'sky is falling' reports like Mr. Woodruff's, I also expected my first trip to Iran to be a scary and frustrating experience, however this was not been the case. I experienced no greater difficulties coming through customs in Tehran than when first arriving to other countries, for example Canada or Turkey. In fact, I was treated better arriving to Iran on my first visit than I have been on returning to my OWN country of America on several occasions.

Arriving at the airport, in my case, only one finger was 'inked' (fingerprinted) and it was to certify my signature; not unlike what one must do when cashing a third party check at any U.S. bank.

Finally, I must comment on the information provided by the U.S. State Dept. regarding visas for Iranians, my husband and I have been married for more than a year and a half, yet he has never seen the U.S. and it is unlikely that he will be allowed to travel there anytime in the near future. Why? Because travel visas are RARELY if EVER granted to Iranians, even if they are married to U.S. citizens. Even when I had to undergo emergency surgery to determine whether I had cancer, the U.S. government refused to grant a travel visa to my spouse even when I sought the assistance of my congressman and senator. In the end, I did not go to the U.S. without my husband, and I will not.

Unfortunately, such subjective reports may only serve to further reinforce negative stereotypes which exist about Iran and its people. I remain disheartened by such continually biased coverage and hope that my input will offer some balance on the issue.

“ ABC World News” is inflaming a pronounced discrimination against Michelle Kwan

Yesterday, Jan. 15, “ ABC World News” is inflaming a pronounced discrimination against Michelle Kwan. Instead of stating the fact that it is American Figure Skating Committee’s decision, 20 to 3, ABC World News is pronouncing that "Michelle is unfair person, because she got chance to go without participating the game."

ABC News is shamelessly going out of its way in participating in a one-sided campaign against Michelle Kwan. This is not first time an American media involving in an undisputable stand against Asian-Americans. They’ve never recognize any Asian-American’s contribution to this country.

My 18 years in this country fully convinced me, that they are a bunch of hypocrite habitually blaming other countries no democracy, no human rights, but never give a damn about their fellow Asian-Americans, simply because they come from Asia!
