Bush Continues His Campaign for the GOP
October 30, 2006 1:11 PM
In his second rally this campaign season, President Bush displayed confidence in the Republican Party while showing support for Georgia’s Republican congressional candidate Max Burns. Bush’s key message to the crowd at Georgia Southern University focused on keeping a Republican majority in order to win the war on terror.
The victory rally could’ve been mistaken for a high school pep rally at one point -- Van Halen music intro and all -- when Bush motioned the audience to shout back to his triumphant political cheers:
Bush: “When it comes to listening to the terrorists, what's the Democrats' answer? It's 'just say no.' When it comes to detaining terrorists, what is the Democrats' answer? 'Just say no.' When it comes to questioning terrorists, what's the Democrats' answer?
Audience: "Just say no!"
Bush: "When it comes to trying the terrorists, what's the Democrats' answer?
Audience: "Just say no!"
Bush: "So, when the Democrats ask for your vote, what's your answer?
Audience: "Just say no!”
*The president used a similar tactic on Saturday at an Indiana election rally, but the audience responded “just say yes” to the questions -- the last answer being “just say yes” to voting for Republicans.
More on Iraq
Bush also noted terrorists were targeting the U.S. before we invaded Iraq and he made references to Saddam Hussein, the 1993 World Trade Center bombing, the USS Cole bombing, and Sept. 11. At one point, Bush said, “If you want this country to do everything we can to protect you from further attack and lay the foundations for peace, you vote Republican.”
Election “far from over"
Bush reminded the crowd what happened to optimistic Democrats in 2004: “This election is far from over, although there are some people in Washington who already think they know the outcome of the election. Some of them are already picking out their new offices at the Capitol (crowd: “boo!”). You might remember that, around this time in 2004, some of them were picking out their new offices in the West Wing (crowd: laughter, applause). The movers never got the call!”
Bush continued Republican optimism, saying, “Nov. 7 is going to be a good day for the Republican Party.”
The president also made many references to House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, reiterating that she must be a “secret admirer” of tax cuts, given her record on voting against tax cuts. Bush went on to say if Democrats take control of the House, an average family would lose $2,000 a year in taxes alone.
Next Stop Today: Sugar Land, Texas. Expect to hear a similar speech for Shelley Sekula-Gibbs (at Tom DeLay’s old stomping grounds). Sekula-Gibbs is a write-in congressional candidate for the regular Texas election. However, her name appears on the special election ballot to replace DeLay as an interim representative until January due to DeLay's resignation following the Jack Abramoff scandal.

Listening to the president one might conclude he believes he did a good job protecting us from the 911 attack, a good job or shall we say a "HECK" of a job protecting us in the aftermath of Katrina, and he must think he is doing a good job in Iraq. No wonder they want to stay the course. I think leaders this far removed from reality will continue to give us slogans to chant and blame others for problems even when they are the ones in charge. Do not get me wrong, I wish they were right when they said, "we would be greeted like liberators" and given flowers and candy, or that the "major combat operation is over", "mission accomplished", "the insurgency is in its last throes" or that Brownie did a Heck of job handling Katrina. They would be winning this elections if those things were true and that would be just fine because thousands of innocent people would be alive and home safe with their families. We'd have hundreds of billion of dollars to help our citizens - especially our middle class, college students, working moms etc, we could have prevented an attack from OSB or at the very least we could have put more focus on catching him, we would have focused more on North Korea or Iran, maybe we would have been more instrumental in preventing Hamas from being injected into the Palestinian government during their "freedom is on the March program” - you know that “freedom” the one Ms. Rice calls “Birthing Pains” - the kind of pain you might expect from the delivery of “Rosemary's baby". The same kind of freedom that could march right into Egypt or heaven forbid - Saudi Arabia where we have loaded them with fighter planes , military armaments and technology - all that without mentioning our financial debt to that nation or the impact of having the fanatics take over that country. We can daydream that this administration and its congressional leadership have done a god job, but reality will still be waiting for us at the very moment we wake up!

"Shock & Awe", Baby! "Shock & Awe". It was just a matter of time before Bush reached the point where he basically said that a vote for a Democratic candidate is the same as a vote for a terrorist. We have finally reached the proverbial bottom of the barrel in the electoral season. Of course, that doesn't mean that the White House won't be willing to negotiate with the Dems in a bi-partisan manner...if we can negotiate with North Korea, the administration reasons, I guess we can do the same with the evil Dems. I wonder how all this jives with those Repbulican candidates running as capable of bi-partisanship...does that mean that they are in league with the Dems? Do we have a new "Axis of Evil"? Stay tuned...same Bat time, same Bat channel.

heh heh. I can just see Georg(ia) in his cheerleading outfit.
Georg(ia): "Rah Rah Sis Boom Bah"
(crowd roars)
I wonder what color his pom-poms are.
