President Clinton to Hit the Stump for Wife's Campaign

June 18, 2007 3:23 PM

ABC News' Eloise Harper Reports: Former President Bill Clinton will join his wife Senator Hillary Clinton D-N.Y. in their first ever joint campaign swing in Iowa July 2-4. President Clinton has held fundraisers across the country raising money for his wife but has yet to hit the trail by her side.

Senator Clinton has been having trouble in the Hawkeye state and has come in third in recent polls in Iowa after rivals Sen. Barack Obama D-Ill., and former Sen .John Edwards D-N.C. Recently the Clinton campaign restructured their organization bringing in Iowa veteran Teresa Vilmain to be their Iowa State Director, after a leaked campaign memo suggested Clinton skip the Iowa caucus. The senator quickly shot down the idea of not competing in the nation's first caucus and she has since made campaign visits to the state.

This is the first time President Clinton has been to Iowa since his wife announced her bid to run for president. Their daughter, Chelsea, will not join her parents on this swing. Further detail was not provided from the campaign, but will be announced soon.

Let`s hope they ask him why the Missus is supporting an immigration Amnesty bill that rewards the illegal immigrants that have cost Iowa (American) meat packing workers $2,040 per year for each 1 dollar in suppressed wages. Money that goes straight to the bottom line of the meat packing businesses.
