Bill Clinton Thinks Primary Process Will Have 'Unusual Outcome'
May 31, 2008 10:58 AM
ABC News’ Sarah Amos reports: Bill Clinton began a busy day of campaigning today in Elk Point, S. D., by taking a moment to mention the DNC Rules Committee meeting that is currently under way in Washington, D.C. "This has been an amazing election, and it has come down to the end, and you and Montana and Puerto Rico are going to be the last three places to vote. I think that we are going to have an unusual outcome," said Clinton, in regards to the Democratic primary process coming to an end next week.
Clinton then reminded the crowd that the DNC Rules Committee meeting was at the moment trying to decide what to do about the contested delegated of Florida and Michigan. "The Republicans seated them as half delegates, the Democrats eviscerated them even though the Republicans were more responsible, in fact completely responsible, and the Democrats shared responsibility with Michigan. They figured since Michigan was the worst hurt state in the country by the Bush economy, they oughta be able to vote early -- and we will see what happens," Clinton told the crowd from the front porch of a local home.
"Hillary's position has always been that if everybody gets to vote, and everybody's vote is counted, she would accept the will of the Democrats and those who are legally eligible to participate in that process, that we would unify this party united do our best to win in November," added Clinton, before moving on to other topics.

bill,
democracy embraces all in a FAIR and BALANCED way. play by the RULES and we'll all get along!
unless bill clinton is saying that the demographics of florida and michigan voters is peculiar (as it is in wv and ky), then the group, taken as a whole, doesn't gain or lose anything by not counting florida's and michigan's votes cast in their state's non-elections. the issue is the rules, and the rules alone.
48 states followed the rules and chose obama as the democratic nominee. at this juncture, 17 million people voted FOR obama.

The phony hypocrite should step aside to give the dems a sure win in November. The way it goes, Bho will join the typical dems Pres. nominee club - a loser.
Posted by: tools | May 31, 2008 11:09:36 AM
First, not all 48 states followed the rules.
Second, if you realized you made a dumb mistake, you ought correct it whether or not it is a rule or a dumb mistake. You have a president for the past 8 years who boneheaded stick to the gun of his dumb mistakes, refusing to correct it. Now, your have this phony "new Bho kind of politics" doing the same thing.
He calls himself, Yes, Revolution We Can Believe In! (that was Chairman Mao's quote).

Unusual outcome?
We are going elect a Republican as the nominee or what?
What in the heck is he talking about?
Posted by: Thinking | May 31, 2008 11:13:35 AM
Seat the delegates from Florida and Michigan. They count. Seat them as they chose to vote. That is fair. Obama is not on the ballot in Michigan, therefore he obtains no votes. It's his mistake. If we do not seat the delegates, the democratic nominee assuredly loose.

"Hillary's position has always been..."
Well that is an interesting quote. What has her position been on Michigan? Seems like she has had more than one. I guess it depends on what the definition of "always" is.

CAN HILLARY CREATE A NEW POLITICAL PARTY TO REPRESENT THE WOMEN AND WORKING CLASS IN THE GENERAL ELECTION? MILLIONS OF VOTERS HOPE SO.
The DNC has made it clear that they have a nominee that represents blacks and college kids and that they don't care about women and working class voters. Obama's supporters have made that abundantly clear in their comments to these blogs. What hasn't yet dawned on women and working folks is that the democratic party no longer represents their interests - which means a new political party has splintered off from the democrats - a working class and women party to be exact. Hillary Clinton represents that constituency. Since the democrats will not be able to convince these voters - the ones that Obama has blatantly and consistently insulted - to accept the lesser of 2 evils - McCain vs. Obama - they will either change parties or vote for the lesser of 2 evils - McCain. The DNC has forced a split in the party - by its reckless disregard for women and working class voters - thank God Hillary is there to represent them.

"...she would accept the will of the Democrats and those who are legally eligible to participate in that process, that we would unify this party united do our best to win in November." Cool then by the middle of next week she can start campaigning for Obama so we can get on with eliminating the McBush threat to our country.

I can only hope that Hillary would allow a write in for her on the ballot for President! God help us if Obama and his group of radicals from the 60's gets in the White House!

Every time this man speaks, more Democrats disown him.
How can he purport to secure the nomination of the party for his wife when he constantly decries Democrats as 'irresponsible'? Go home already, Clintons. Do yourselves and the country a favor- fade quietly into political obscurity.

Yeah, Michigan and Florida are worthless, why should they count? Obama has the black vote in the bag, who needs those states, I'm sure that he'll win easy with the 12 or 13 million black voters behind him. NOT.

Soldier -- PLEASE speak for yourself. Geez, you guys' tunnel vision is so boring it hurts. Unless you forgot this is supposed to be a democracy -- you can try to ram a candidate down our throats if you want but millions of voters simply are not buying it. Period. Pelosi and company can threaten all they want but it's up to the PEOPLE and the truth is, the PEOPLE are choosing between two democratic candidates and like it or not, but your boy ain't winning everything as far as popular votes go. Maybe you should take you own advice and fade quietly into obscurity.

I hope the "unusal outcome" that Clinton speaks of includes having the DNC run the Clintons out of town for waging such a divisive and destructive campaign. That would be both unusual and deeply satisfying for many of us.
Posted by: Valerie | May 31, 2008 11:53:41 AM
Just how is the DNC spliting the party. People have voted in the primaries and Obama is ahead in delegates.
Posted by: erin | May 31, 2008 11:57:07 AM
"run the Clintons out of town for waging such a divisive and destructive campaign"........You know there are two people running in this campaign or are you saying, "How dare Hillary run against Obama"? That's what it sounds like to me.
Posted by: JR | May 31, 2008 12:00:58 PM
Yes! The unusal outcome is that Hillary Clinton will be coronated, queen of the republic. Soon after she'll be doing shots with John McCain while Bill entertains the interns. Yeeee haw.
