Clinton Blows Kisses to the Citizens of Puerto Rico

May 31, 2008 11:06 AM

ABC News' Eloise Harper reports: Sen. Hillary Clinton stood on a white pick-up truck where a platform was built so she could face forward and wave and blow kisses to well-wishers who came out into the street to greet her. Some women even ran out of a hairdresser's shop with curlers in their hair to wave at the former first lady.

At times the caravan brought traffic to a hault as drivers leaned out of their cars to catch a photo on their cell phone.

Preceeding Clinton's truck was a flatbed truck full of about 40 reporters filming the senator from New York. There were giant speakers in front of the bus full of reporters playing songs that all include lyrics about Hillary Clinton. The woman MC says Hillary Clinton will be the president for all Puerto Ricans.

Some staffers wore wearing headsets and rode scooters, perhaps to attempt to control the chaos and maintain some sort of organization. Island campaigning is very different from campaigning in Iowa and Indiana. This would be the first day-long moving caravan -- with loud music blaring -- of this campaign season.

Six more hours to go for Hillary Clinton; her caravan is scheduled to hit seven municipalities throughout Puerto Rico.

And you guys represent the "Hope" and "Change" of the future. God help us. Maybe you should all go to Father Pfleguer and confess or repent or whatever.

Love you Hillary!

You are indeed a symbol of intelligence, persistence, in-depth knowledge, experience, and determination.

I praise you for your dignity to stand up despite the mean attacks.

Rise Hillary .... Rise ... :)

PS: For some rude Obama supporter: A minimum level of politeness will suffice. You really lack manners.

From a young fun MD :) who has no doubts that Obama is Overrated. Obama 08 = Kerry 04! :)

Hillary is the one candidate that is standing up for voters everywhere. She is one of us--so she understands what is important. Thank you for continuing to fight when most of us would have crumbled under the pressure. You are an inspiration to us all.

Barack & Hillary have both ran outstanding campaigns. It's rather amazing that so many of you that comment seem to not take into account that this is "historically unprecedented". This Democratic Nomination process will inevitably lead to a stronger and more aware American electorate.

What most of you do not understand or appreciate is that approximately 40,000,000 citizens have participated in the Democratic Presidential Primary process.

The outcome of which nominee wins is not the only thing that matters.

The thing that disturbs me most is the racial, sexist and hatefully demeaning inflammatory language that democrats are using in this campaign.

Both the Clinton and Obama campaigns and their supporters have engaged in such repulsive rhetoric.

One thing is certain however... The voters of Florida and Michigan should not be punished based on States changing their respective primary timetables.

The voters had nothing at all to do with it.

Perfect opportunity for ya, Hill, to become the queen of Puerto Rico -- no one else wants you around.

I've worked hard for Obama and I'm glad that he's winning, but I think we should leave Hillary alone. The people of Puerto Rico love her and she's interacting with them in a way that they love. She's also eating dirt, baking in the sun, probably foot sore to an extraordinary degree and possibly endangering her life. I can't believe the secret service thought this was a good idea. She's not my candidate, but she's tough and she's a democrat and I'm proud of her. She's not in my immediate family, but as a democrat, I'll claim her as a valued family member. She has sworn to work her heart out for the nominee of the Democratic Party. Stop picking on her. She's a valuable friend. The war is over. Didn't y'all get the memo?

Who was charged with perjury, and impeached? Not the media! Should we ever trust the words of someone who perjured at the highest level? Bill Clinton, you can no longer be believed!

why are Obama supporters so full of hate. I am not a Hillary supporter but I am sickened by the level of hatred coming from Obama supporters. Is this what he inspires in you? Your hatred is everywhere. It is dividing this Country. We have endured almost 8 years of this kind of behavior haven't we learned anything. I don't see this level of hatred, vile, vicious behavior coming from Clinton supporters. Also Obama supporters have you spoken out against Keith Olberman advocating for violence against women?

Karela at 10:05pm,

I am sure there is going to be a memo going out very very soon to all Barack Obama supporters, "Start being kind and respectful to Hillary and her supporters, Effective Immediately. We will need the millions of votes she received (which in fact exceeded those of Senator Obama) to have a chance of winning the general election". Or something to that effect. Nice try.

Firstly, Hillary is still very much in this race. It is most definitely not over yet! So, although you Barack Obama supporters apparently can smell victory already, I submit to you it is a tad premature to start wooing Hillary's supporters.

That's bordering on cocky.

But then, again, that would be consistent with the smugness that has typified Barack Obama's attitude throughout this campaign.

It is just one of the reasons I could never imagine voting for him.

Posted by: dan | Jun 1, 2008 1:46:47 AM

hillary should run on the indepedent line. the heck with the rest of them.

Posted by: john | Jun 1, 2008 1:49:14 AM

Why have a Dem primary in Puerto Rico and who cares if Hillary wins 95% of the vote?

Wake up people - Puerto Rico doesn't get to vote in the General Election!

Posted by: TrueDem | Jun 1, 2008 5:46:50 AM

Obama supporters: Read Obama's book, listen to the news, (foxnews) learn who the real "Obama" is before you cast your next vote. Learn, educate yourselves before it is too late.
