McCain, Obama & Greek Drama
August 27, 2008 8:23 PM
This is getting out of hand. We noted earlier that much is being made about the Greek columns at tomorrow's venue for Senator Obama's speech. Now comes this from the McCain campaign: "Today, workers at Invesco Field are putting the final touches on the newest wonder of the modern political world -- The Temple of Obama ('The Barackopolis')...There may be some confusion among the press about the venue and appropriate dress code for Barack Obama's big speech. To help out, we wanted to provide the following tips on appropriate attire. The toga may have gone out of style centuries ago, but after Obama's temple speech tomorrow night, they’re sure to be flying off the racks."
A senior Obama campaign official replies: "I know that Sen McCain and his people have been shooting barbs about the 'opulence' of our convention from the mountaintop at Sedona at the McCain estate. I don't think it warrants a response."
And after all this -- our Jake Tapper notes that Barack Obama's appearance in Denver won't be the first convention speech "framed by Greek columns." George W. Bush accepted his own nomination in 2004 on a set with a similar neoclassical theme, with columns rising on either side of him.

Who really cares about columns.
Today and tomorrow will be a very historic day when America will nominate the very first African-American of any political party.

Lack of response to this blog makes me assume that the joke on the dumb tube has a lot of viewers tonight. Tonights show is really a silly presentation that will force me to pass on BHO. What was the name of the great showmen that developed the circus? Same feeling about this convention. Oh yea it was PT Barnum, name will stand out far more than BHO in 100 years. I did and would have voted for Clinton.

Good for you ron ... I'm sure it will be a memorable moment when your children, grandchildren or friends and neighbors get shipped to some foreign war after McCain reinstitutes the draft as he has promised.

Obama - NEVER!
Posted by: A | Aug 27, 2008 9:02:55 PM
Michael - Congressman Rangle advocated bringing back the draft. Show me where McCain or any Republican did.

Mary, get this straight, Obama is 6.25% african American. You are correct though, this is the first nomination for an Arab-American. Does that historic moment make you feel all tingly inside too?
Stop with the historic stuff; what is more historic is that America is this close to electing a dangerous fraud Obama.

Does John McCain have a platform? Does he have any policy ideas or statements or does he just yap endlessly and jealously about stuff that Barack Obama does? This Republican campaign for the Presidency is quickly becoming the most pathetic display of moronic childishness I've seen outside of my kids daycare center.

I have been watching the Democratic Convention and I don't know who this Obama they are talking about. It's a lot of hype and lies mixed together to create a product that is flawed from within, but fresh from without.

Why are Republicans making so much hay out of two columns of stone? This is classic architecture which is prominently displayed on many of our nation's buildings. Why? Because it's strength and style has withstood the test of time. To Team McCain...please worry about the issues, not interior decorating.

McCain doesn't need to call for the draft. he has had 2 sons in the military , one of them serving in Iraq.
He leads by example.
Show me a good Dem example?

Obama Bin Lying.. A clear and present danger to America
Posted by: Hilly-Billy | Aug 27, 2008 9:47:04 PM
It's a big deal because Obama claims to not take lobbyists money, meanwhile tons of money is been spent on this and other parties around Denver. Now i know both parties do that, but the only one to deceive the voters and lies about it is Obama.

I believe anything Good is God. Obama is Good for this country right now. I am 40 years old and for the first time in my life I am goiong to cast a vote for a political candidate that I believe in. He strikes me as honest, hardworking, full of hope and willing to go through change for the betterment of the American people. I haven't seen a candidate so brave ever in my life time. God Bless him , he is Good.

Love this blog, but it would be nice if you included who is the author of each post and his/her position. It would be great to include posts from journalists, producers, writers, etc. - everyone who works on World News. Thanks!

Bush did have a similar set, but not nearly as large IN A SPORTS ARENA AND HE WAS PRESIDENT AT THE TIME!
Republicans should sell togas at the entrance and olive branch wreaths for their heads....more modest togas for the bitter Americans who cling to guns and religion.
HILLARY SUPPORTER FOR McCAIN BEFORE AND AFTER THE CONVENTION

If Greek columns were okay for GW Bush why not for Obama? Face it folks, McSame couldn't fill a stadium...smaller room for smaller policies.

Why isn't Bill Clinton showing up for this spectacle?
He and Hillary "endorsed?" Obama -- but who do you think they really want to win. Hillary wants to run again in 2012.

this is a disgrace and a shame that ignorant people will post some of the hate on this site.african americans, whites, asians, hispanics, old, youang, rich, poor, died for women and africanamericans to get the right to vote and all the republicans and john mccain can do is demonize where sen, obama is giving a speech the same republicans that scandal after scandal was carried out in 2006 that is why we kicked the lying shameful bums out the same republican that has caused seniors to turn to bankruptcy in 2008 you dont have to take my word go to cnn/money and read for yourself. the same republican party that cant defend their record but throw out smear and fear. the same republican party that sent our sons and daughters into a senseless and lying war.the same republican party that jack abramoff is trying to get some time off to testify afainst a big corruption that the fbi is investigating,so we have a choice in this election especially that dem that is voting for john mccain this time out of hate we dont want liars in the dem party we want to drain the swamp as nancy pelosi said in the 2006 election and we did maybe this time we can dry it up
