McCain to Obama -- Congratulations

August 28, 2008 4:36 PM

This just crossed on the wires.  John McCain is coming out with a new ad tonight congratulating Barack Obama on his historic nomination.

DENVER (AP) -- John McCain is airing a one-evening-only ad with a simple message for Barack Obama: "Job well done." The ad coincides with Obama's nomination acceptance speech.

McCain congratulates Obama for his nomination. McCain recognizes the symbolism of a black man accepting the nomination on the 45th anniversary of Martin Luther King Jr.'s "I Have a Dream" speech. The ad will run Thursday on national cable television before and after Obama's address.

McCain says: "Senator Obama, this is truly a good day for America. Too often the achievements of our opponents go unnoticed. So I wanted to stop and say, congratulations. How perfect that your nomination would come on this historic day. Tomorrow, we'll be back at it. But tonight Senator, job well done."

His staff must have been reading the blogs

Not sure I believe it. Just another attempt to put the media spotlight on himself and using a Historic Day to do it.

He could have just called and kept it between him and Obama. When you put it in an ad, it brings into question if there is another motive, one less sincere.

I'm sure Obama will return the kind word tomorrow by whishing McCain a happy SEVENTY SECOND birthday!

McSame who was opposed all his life in Arizona and in the Senate to have MLK Jr birthday as a national holiday has to be closing his old mouth today with this double victory Obama has won and the last will be in Novemeber. McSame is toasted. Yes we can. America should be proud of itself despite the fact that we have in our midst some sick thinking people like McSame. God bless America and God bless Obama. By the way, thanks John for the vote for Martin Luther King Jr's Holiday!

"I can't control my rowdy pals but I'm really a good guy."

Nice timing with his support of the MLK Holiday.

John McCain taking the high road?? You're kidding. I'm not sure he or his campaign knows how to do that. His campaign staffers have taken a new low in campaigning and that's really low for republicans

BKMC

Dead on BKMC! As an Africian American I'm extremely proud of this country! Whether it was going to be Obama or Hillary, neither of them could have done this in any other country. Even the idiots wouldn't be allowed to express themselves in say, China. Only America could produce a Martin Luther King, A John F. Kennedy, A Hillary Clinton, A Barak Obama! We're always the FIRST! The true leaders. America Rocks!

Good for McCain...

Maybe around this time next year, Obama will have an ad out wishing the president a happy 73rd birhtday to return the favor.

McCain as we used to know him, granted a one day leave from his rovian prison. Tomorrow the rovians will be in charge again.

I thought it was nice of him....can't wait to see the polls in a couple of weeks....ME AND MILLIONS OF HILLARY SUPPORTERS FOR McCAIN!
Obama's Ayers connection even closer than reported....that stuff is going to hit the fan next week...documents were released that BO camp tried to squelch...like they squelch all the other negative stories THAT WILL BE REVISITED IN THE NEXT 8 WEEKS.
Hope McCain picks Romney.....just mention his religion ONCE and we can bring out Rev. Wright again....the guy who really will be part of the reason BO is not elected.

Say what you will, it was still a nice gesture.
