Debate Questions For McCain & Obama -- What's Yours?
September 26, 2008 1:30 PM
Now that the presidential debate appears to be on for tonight...The New York Times had an interesting piece this morning culling together questions for the candidates that are on the minds of foreign leaders and thinkers. Excerpts from the piece:
How would you work with America's allies in the Muslim world to turn around the widely held misperception there, as evidenced in opinion polls, that the global war against terrorism is actually a war against Islam? -ASIF ALI ZARDARI, the president of Pakistan
Lastly, what would you do to regain the trust of your allies who would like to see the United States engaging in respectful dialogue and leading the way in the fight not merely against terrorism — which must be done — but also against world hunger, poverty, inequality and disease? -MICHELLE BACHELET, the president of Chile
Do you view China simply as an emerging great power, or as an emerging great power with a conflicting ideology? And how will this perception shape your China policy? -HU SHULI, the editor of the Chinese business magazine Caijing

Questions: Will you appoint study committees to study, review, evaluate and bring recommendations to you for potental problems with transportation, foodstamp, housing, job, airline, bank problems, etc.?

For McCain: How is it that Ron Paul predicted this economic collapse while Bernanke, Paulson, and you said the economy was fundamentally sound? Is Ron Paul prophetic, clairvoyant or both?
For Obama: Do you believe you have a vested/conflict of interest in the bailout to help Goldman and others since one of your largest donors is Goldman? Do you believe Ron Paul has been one of the only people to tell the truth since he accepts none of this type of bribe money?

McCain: Do you know the definition for the word TRUTH???

Senator McCain - You supported the very deregulation laws that helped create this mess several years ago. Why should we now believe that you could see this coming as you have repeatedly said?

McCain do you believe Ron Paul deserves the republican nomination over you since he has been correct about everything, and you have been wrong about everything?

If it's any questions, please describe how your party contributed to the financial issues we're facing today?
If it's strictly foreign policy, what is your top priority for the U.S. Middle East policy given the climates in Iraq, Afghanistan, Iran, and Israel?

Why won't John McCain release his medical records like other candidates?

Senator Obama why does part of the bailout the Democrats wants 20% to go to ACORN?? This organization is under investigation for false voter registration, ACORN employee's forged thousands of fraudulent signatures and misspening government grants. Why in the world would the taxpapers want to help this kind of organization.

Senator McCain, you have called yourself a maverick. But you almost always voted whatever way President Bush wanted you to vote, so that can't be it. I am guessing it's mainly because you distanced yourself from those who call themselves the Christian Right. Only now you give them Sarah Palin, darling of the extreme right wing. You also spoke to us on the importance of experience. Only Gov. Palin has next to no experience. Many, including myself, admired you in the past, but the values you stood for seem to have slipped away.
Do you still say you are a maverick? Do you still say experience is important? With all the really qualified candidates out there, how could you have picked Gov. Palin? I am asking you to please explain Sarah Palin's qualifications to run our country if you become sick or unable to do so. We want real reasons. Tell us what she has done that is special, what makes her the best choice to handle foreign policy, economic policy and even threats of war. Give us some reason to think you have made a good choice, because right now a lot of have very serious questions not just about Gov. Palin but about how you could have chosen her.

Our country faces great challenges. The war in Iraq is going nowhere, we have lost many friends and allies around the world, and now the economy is in a dangerous mess. Please tell us what Gov. Palin has actually done to give her the experience to handle these probems. We know you like her. We know the extreme right wing of the Republican Party adores her. But why should we trust her with our future?

For McCain:
What does "Country First" mean?
What comes second then?
When you decided to call off the debate, to put country first, were you saying that the debate is not relevant to the country? Now that the debate is on, have you decided that country is second?

Question: What was your true motivation for selecting Mrs. Palin?
Who was your first choice and why did you not pick that person?

For Obama,
Based on your 4 years as a Senator (nearly two years running for President), what makes you qualified to ran for the top office of the United States?
Posted by: Dee | Sep 26, 2008 4:07:03 PM
Senator McCain - I turned on the BBC a couple of weeks ago to hear that in the Middle East it is no longer fringe to hate America. It seems it has gone mainstream. What would you do differently in the "War on Terror" to reassure me that we will not continue to see this, as well as articles on our own government reports, saying that recruitment is climbing? Please explain to me how such reports could remotely suggest we're making any headway here.

It used to cost $20.00 to run into the grocery store for a few essentials. Now those same essentials cost $50.00. How are you going to bring that back down to normal for us regular folks?
Posted by: jm | Sep 26, 2008 4:31:41 PM
Senator McCain, please explain to America what the specific foreign policy qualifications you considered when choosing Sarah Palin as your running mate? Be specific please.
