Does Sarah Palin HAVE to talk to the Press? What do you Think?
September 05, 2008 3:39 PM
Named to the ticket a week ago. Introduced to 37 million viewers through a convention speech on Wednesday. She's spoken at various McCain campaign events. But still, Sarah Palin has steered clear of reporters and their questions. Speakers at the Republican convention this week bashed the press and their handling of Palin's family story. At what point does a candidate for higher office have a responsibility to take questions...to interact with reporters? Thoughts?

She doesn't have to talk to the press. And, in turn, I don't have to vote for her.

Palin absolutey has to talk to the press and explain why she is spending the "bridge" money on a road to no where. Also why did she feel ist necessaasry to impede the ethics investigation by her state legislature on the firing of her state safety head over his refusal to fire her brother-in-law She should also explain how being a mayor of a town of 9,000 and two years as governor qualify her to be the GOP vice president, if elected

Absolutely. That's a part of the territory. If Obama, Biden and McCain have to talk to the media, so does she.

I cannot even fathom how this is a question that has to be asked.

Sarah Palin is this unknown face that McCain picked. She could be the president. Don't you think the American people should know who would be representing them and what are her policies, beliefs etc. I think she has hidden baggage that the Republicans are trying to hide.

Yes, she needs to talk to the press.
We have a right to know about what her views and opinions are on the issues we the american people are facing.
For the McCain camp to not allow her to grant interviews is only saying to us that they do not have the confidence in her to speak on her own.
To only allow her to speak with scripted speeches is ludicrous.
She has alot to answer to and we deserve the right to know these answers.
Her speech on wednesday night was void of any talk of how she as VP would change our economy, stop the war, create jobs and other very very important matters.

I think North Korea and China are the only places where they tell ya who you can and cant talk to...
Transparant government, good job McCain

Most definitely Sarah Palin should have to talk to the press. No other candidate would get away with not communicating with the media (unless this was Russia). But, McCain is too busy training Palin so that she knows everything that she needs to know about foreign policy, the Lower 48 states, handling difficult media questions, how the US economy works, etc. I expect her to "lose it" at the VP debate.

At least, she needs to answer voter's questions directly!

They're managing her introduction to the political process quite well actually.
Big impact introduction, let the press dig up the initial dirt so they can see what it might be and prepare for the backlash and questions, big impact speech that draws 37 million curious potential voters, take the big bump in the polls with your message waving in the wind . . . . THEN throw her into the world for a whupping and a whipping.
She'll probably be fine.

Sure she should talk to the press but only the objective press.
She doesn't have to talk to the obama propaganda machine that masquerades as the press.
I'll let her make that call as I trust her far more then most of the so-called press of today.

She has to carefully choose who she gets interviewed by if she wants to win. She needs friendly interviewers. FOX news comes to mind. But no real journalists.
Ellen and Oprah are absolute musts for her.
She must have conditions on what can and cannot be asked for everyone but FOX news.

You mean they are going to keep her under lock and key like they did with Dan Quayle? Ooh, great pick John. Why didn't you just stick with your bosom buddy Lieberman? I mean one good Democrat deserves another? Romney, McCain, Lieberman, Guiliani, remember when there actually WERE Republicans in the Republican party??? The republican party deserves to elect Obama, if they were anymore backward they'd be back in time.

The press is scum. Palin has to talk to the people, not the press.
Posted by: Jane | Sep 5, 2008 3:58:59 PM
If she has nothing to worry about then why wouldn't she talk to the press? McCain can't keep her in the background forever.
Posted by: Enviro | Sep 5, 2008 3:59:13 PM
She has no responsibility to talk to reporters. Who are you to demand she talk to reporters after the disgusting behavior of the press last week?
Why would anyone want to talk to the press? Reporters can be trusted only to twist the truth into lies and fabrications to match their ideology. One must surrender all ethics and integrity to become a "journalist."

Turn the question to John McCain:
How can she be ready to take over as president if she is afraid to answer unscripted questions?
So little is known about her, and so many questions have come up, I would say the American public should expect her to provide virtually unlimited access.
I don't have a high opinion of McCain, but at least he has answered questions put to him. Or at least he used to!

Obama is lowering the field expectation, experience and honesty. I wouldn't be surprise if I see a college student running for the US President if Obama wins this time.
