September 05, 2008 5:11 PM
ABC's Jake Tapper reports today that McCain misspoke, stating that his running mate, Alaskan Governor Sarah Palin, "sold" her predecessor's luxury jet on ebay...it's not quite true. Palin's office "put" the plane up for bidding on ebay...but things didn't go so well. Read here.

so funny these little "slips" and twists in speeches to the American puvblic...the bridge...the jet...
the WMD... oh wait same administration different time.
or atleast the same kind of tactics along with the wall of silence around witnesses ...you know ...no interviews.

My-maybe you need to think about the upkeep and fueling of that plane, she saved the government money, it should not have been bought in the first place and the upkeep alone would have cost the taxpayers, so even if it was sold for less, it was still a savings from excessive spending. Basic Economics people, once again I question our education system in this country when I read these blogs. Unreal

and Adam
she then had to pay and constantly book for commercial airlines to fly she and her staff and her family around the biggest state and least infrastructurely developed state ...in the union.
smart ...very smart... can we say gimmick
you think gimmicks will work with Putin...or to help her tell when Global warming might be real?
or how to decypher the intracacies of constitutional laws regarding the separation of powers...
or the historical nature of our agreements with NATO
or the cultural difference between southeast asian al qaeda and African al qaeda?
she sold it at a loss... and she actually has brought in a lot more money than that into Alaska... that bridge...you know the one...she decided to just keep the money.
but they did get a great sports complex built (tee hee you know I use to be a sports reporter 10 years ago but then I founf out I would have to move to Bristol CT...and I moved too much with college...and I would have had to get a Passport...now lets talk immigration)
oh and the sports complex...huge money pit.
but atleast we have John mcCain's judgement hiring the people who will get us out of this mess
ugh

Media's Selective Hearing problem. Obama Obama Obama Oprah oops Obama Obama

Hey adam,
Settle down. McCain is the one who said she "sold" it on eBay for a profit. She just implied that it was sold. If you want to argue with that, ask yourself why should would mention eBay at all.
But I guess if we have to be literal about all this, McCain is the liar. Or maybe this is yet another one of his senior moments we're supposed to excuse.
You want to vote for these two?
Posted by: really | Sep 5, 2008 6:27:09 PM
More important than the E-bay fib is: Why won't she hold a press conference? Is she so unprepared that she can't be trusted to talk on her own?
Jake, can we start a Days-Without-Palin-Avail counter?
Day 1 from the RNC convention is today.

The plane was sold to a Republican guy losing $500,000. What a joke this lady is.
Posted by: Liz | Sep 5, 2008 6:27:49 PM
She didnt say she sold it on Ebay, McCain said she sold it on Ebay. He lied.
Posted by: Jo | Sep 5, 2008 6:29:25 PM
Is anything the Republicon party says true? I mean they haven't come out with a single policy statement in at least 8 weeks, and McSame hasn't taken direct questions from the media for 10. Now they have Palin lying about selling a plane. These people are fricking pathetic.
Posted by: Bob Lees | Sep 5, 2008 6:29:52 PM
Palin didn't lie, but McCain did. Why in the world would McCain lie about this?? It's just really stupid to lie about it. It was a cool idea to put it on EBay, and then McCain has to go and embellish it, lie, and break some trust (not a lot of trust, but these individual lies add up)!
Posted by: Eric | Sep 5, 2008 6:35:48 PM
The real question is what did the money go towards... Why don't you report on that...
Posted by: Jack | Sep 5, 2008 6:40:39 PM
Sarah Pollen won't take questions because her TUTORING isn't going so well. lol
Sarah Pollen won't take questions because Sarah Pollen IS A BLANK STATE, like Alaska -- ENDLESS NOTHINGNESS! lol
Sarah won't answer questions is PROOF OF HER INCOMPETENCE, like bush, like McCaint, like Republi-cons!
Posted by: Patriot | Sep 5, 2008 6:41:11 PM
JA
OK, here's more. That bridge to nowhere crap. First she was for it, then she was against it and the state of Alaska actually kept the 300 million dollars and are now building a road that leads to nowhere. As mayor of Wasilla she left the town 20 million dollars in debt. Wasilla is also the meth capital of Alaska! The McCain campaign claimed that the Obama campaign went after her family but when they were asked to name one instance, they couldn't come up with one example!
Posted by: roxanne | Sep 5, 2008 6:41:59 PM
She didn't say she 'sold' it on ebay. She said that she put it on ebay. So she was totally truthful.
Posted by: Abe
She and McCain repeated that she sold it at a profit and that was a lie. And now they are stonewalling with the investigation against her. This harpy is going down!
Posted by: roxanne | Sep 5, 2008 6:44:39 PM
I find it hilarious every used to knock on Obama for giving speeches, but now that you have a Republican that overshadows McCain speech giving ability she's the hero.
You do all realize EVERYTIME she has spoken in public she's reading a teleprompter or looking down at papers and reading off that.
As I watched Obama and Biden today they were both freestyling it with the public, no scripts or prewritten speeches.
I want to see her without a piece of paper in front of her with everything written for her by someone else....
Posted by: Emily | Sep 5, 2008 6:46:17 PM
outtahere-Then I guess we will be a complete laughing stock if Obama is elected, an unvetted, media child, empty suit.
Posted by: Kim
The empty suit BS is getting old. Sarah Palin is the worst mother I've seen!
Posted by: roxanne | Sep 5, 2008 6:47:48 PM
I hate to say it, but Palin comes off a bit like a real-life version of Dana Carvey's well-known "Church Lady": straight-laced, self-righteous and judgmental, but both personally flawed and rather disconnected from reality. (For that matter, McCain also seems disconnected from reality: perhaps that just comes when your wife can sport bling worth 10x the average American family's annual income. And the Repubs call Obama "elitist"!) I'm think (or prayerfully hope) that sister Palin truly means well, but I think she is either horribly naive or else is being completely dishonest with herself.
