Obama On "The Old Boy Network"

September 17, 2008 3:22 PM

Nm_obama_change_02_080910_main Tough words from Barack Obama -- moments ago in Elko, NV:

"This is someone who's been in Congress for twenty-six years – -who put seven of the most powerful Washington lobbyists in charge of his campaign – and now he tells us that he's the one who will take on the old boy network. The old boy network? In the McCain campaign, that's called a staff meeting."

Perfect Line...I Love it!

It was the "old boy network" of the Democratic Party that "selected" Obama!!

I watch the clip on television. I couldn't stop laughing.

Obama keeps this up it's straight to the WHITE HOUSE.

GREAT LINE!!!! And very true...was wondering when they'd get around to calling McCain out on it!

When you've got Phil Gramm...the one responsible for deregulation as McCain's main economic advisor...

When you've got McCain claiming he is a "DEREGULATOR"

When you've got the McCain campaign sticking their noses in a state probe to investigate Palin's corruptions, hoping to intimidate AK into ending the investigatiion...

...makes you wonder what exactly McCain is going to reform when he gets to Washington....HIMSELF?

Good job, Obama!

Posted by: chris | Sep 17, 2008 3:33:23 PM

That's great! He'll have to use that one a lot more too. Obama has come out swinging and is going to expose the duplicity and cynicism that is the McCain campaign. It's about time.

Keep on fighting Obama - America is behind you!

What would you call Biden? Barry is part of the old boy network in Illinois.

Posted by: Mack | Sep 17, 2008 3:36:44 PM

Is Obama talking about John McCain or his new sidekick Joe Biden? Hasn't Biden been in Washington longer than McCain? Isn't it Joe Biden's own family that works in the lobbying industry? Aren't members of Obama's economic team the same people who ran Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac into the ground? Why do you and other members of the media consistently print the "tough words" from Obama in total but choose to edit as you choose to edit other comments that might reflect negatively on your newfound "savior." Specific example: Why were the comments yesterday by the former HP CEO described as saying that McCain and Palin could not run a company, when in fact, she said that NONE of the four candidates (including Obama and Biden) were capable in her mind?

"Who exactly is McCain going to reform when he gets to Washington...HIMSELF?"

What reforming did Barry do in Chicago?

Posted by: Mack | Sep 17, 2008 3:42:59 PM

The ultimate insider berating the ultimate insider based on how long he's been inside.

At least John McCain has stood up to his own party and Washington in general....on multiple occasions.

Obama never will. As the newest member of the club...Obama believes his own press.

Posted by: Jackie | Sep 17, 2008 3:43:48 PM

bkm - So you admit, McCain IS apart of the old boys network. As well, Biden isn't the #1 on the ticket... Unless you want to compare McCain with Biden, in this case i'll choose Biden ANY DAY (Biden isn't going to bring me and my family four more years of BUSH!!!)

Posted by: Alex | Sep 17, 2008 3:44:33 PM

That's the best line I've heard in this entire election.

Posted by: Dan | Sep 17, 2008 3:46:37 PM

Both parties are cesspools. The republicans are a little worse than the dems, but both suck. Follow Ron Paul's lead and go third party. Ron Paul was right about this financial crash, he probably is right about 3rd parties.

Best line of the day!!!

Flip-flop, diddy-bop McCain. Rails against corporate theives and huge CEO ripoffs, and then employs Carly Fiorina as one of his most trusted advisors. The same Carly Fiorina who got a $45 Million buyout from Hewlett Packard. McCain = HYPOCRITE

OBAMA = CHANGE

McCAIN = CHUMP CHANGE

After the last 8 years, only a CHUMP would vote Repub.

Posted by: Ed from MA | Sep 17, 2008 3:52:50 PM

This sounds like he is talking about Biden with all those years in congress.

Posted by: jamescbuilder | Sep 17, 2008 3:54:15 PM

Talk about old boy network, Obama's democrats controlled the congress and senate for two years. Two years. Suddenly Obama and the democrats complain about the economy? The democrats never heard of the energy crisis? People having to choose between food and medicine or driving to work? Never heard of regular folks not buying because energy costs sucked them dry? Where was Obama in the senate getting his democratic majority to help us regular folks until yesterday? Oh, right, he was too busy running for president. Now Obama won't even answer whether or not he would have bailed out AIG. Not yesterday and not today. What a coward. He can't make a decision even after the fact.

You go, Obama! Giving the McWarDebt flock a taste of their own campaigning!

Obama pulls ahead in all 3 major polls today - Gallup, Reuters, and Zogby!
