Obama: The 'Ol' Boys Network' Just Another McCain Staff Meeting
September 17, 2008 11:38 AM
ABC News' Sunlen Miller reports: Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Barack Obama opened up a new line of criticism against his Republican rival Sen. John McCain's response to the economic crisis this week capitalizing on McCain and his running mate Sarah Palin's recent campaign pledge that they will take on the "ol' boys network" in Washington DC.
“This is somebody who’s been in Congress for twenty-six years, who put seven of the most powerful Washington lobbyists in charge of his campaign, and now he tells us that he’s the one who will take on the ol' boy network,”Obama said before a crowd in Elko, Nev.
"The ol’ boy network? In the McCain campaign, that’s called a staff meeting," Obama said.
Obama blasted the changing responses McCain had this week to the economic crisis pointing out that he began the week saying the "fundamentals of the economy are strong.
" Now his campaign must have realized that probably this wasn't the smartest thing to say on the day of a financial meltdown, so they sent him out a few hours later to clean up his remark," Obama said.
Obama continued, “John McCain went on to say how angry he is at the greedy corporate interests on Wall Street. He’s so angry he wants to punish them with $200 billion in tax cuts. And if they’re not careful, he’ll give them even more tax cuts for shipping our jobs overseas. “
An exasperated Obama questioned, “Where is he getting these lines? The lobbyists running his campaign?”
The Illinois senator also hit McCain on his suggestion of forming a panel similar to the 9/11 Commission to look into the financial crisis.
"That's Washington-speak for 'we’ll get back to you later.'" Obama said.
Obama then offered up his own forecast for what the McCain response would be by the end of the week.
“At this rate, by the end of the week John McCain will be telling us how he and Phil Gramm and the seven lobbyists [working for his campaign] are planning to storm the Treasury Department with torches and pitchforks. Come on!” Obama said.

Obama missed the biggest one tapped for Mccain's transition team should he win. Uber lobbyist, William Timmons This lobbyist in so tight with McCain has registered to work on bills that deal with the regulations of troubled mortgage lenders Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae and bills that regulate domestic oil-drilling. How is McCain going to serve two masters?

McCain DOESNT CARE, he's just a rich guy who wants to be president. He just wants you to vote for him, and shut up and be quiet.

Come on guys...this is where we get on here and spout out a whole a bunch of meaningless dribble about how Obama or McCain will save us! How one of the parties is at at fault and how the other party has all the answers!
lololololol
Good Luck.

That staff meeting quote is not only excellent but accurate and in accordance with the McCain's cynical truth as well.
Bravo, Barack. Get them. Expose them.

Maybe when they investigate they will figure out that banks being forced to give 1 trillion dollars in marginal loans to minority and low income people is partly to blame for this crisis. Maybe while they are looking at that they can examine Obama's connection to ACORN which was allowed to stop banks from selling loans, etc if they they didn't have enough minority loans, affirmative action in the housing industry. Obama can say whatever he wants about how he is going to fix the economy, maybe we need to think about his involvement in breaking it.

This is how you hit back! How does Mccain justify giving them more tax credits. Its there fault and PHil gramms fault that we are in this mess. How does Mccain respond to this. Is this good government and strait talk? I do not think so, strait talk stopped when he choose Palin and he's been getting worse since.

McCain tried to stop this in 2005. The Dems prevented it.
Obama got the most political donations from the Mort. group to stop regulations from happening.

Obama got more money form freddie and fannie Mae than any other senator or congressman but one (another dem)
He got more money from Lehman and Merrill lynch (10) than any other senator or congressman
he's been bought.

oops, did Obama forget to mention that the head of economic team was in charge of freddie mac, and gave himself a 100 million dollar salary?
oops,

Biden's son was a lobbyist who pushed to stop regulating the mort. businesses.
Biden and Obama were one of the top 3 to get donations from the mort. groups.
This is Obama's fault not McCain!

Obama may not fix any problems with economy but neither will McCain. His plans will simply make the problem worse. Having Republicans manage problems with the economy equates to having oil company executives manage energy policy.

Is Obama referring to the "good old boys" at Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, who have filled his coffers to the tune of more than $120,000 in just three years????
Talk about the "good old boys" network.

McCain lied when he said the regulatory commissions had not been changed since the 1930's. McCain and Phil Gramm and other Republicans voted in 1999 to de-regulate the financial services business.

All top national polls put Obama back in the lead today.
See, Johnny? CRIME DON'T PAY.
OBAMA = LEADER
McCAIN = LIAR

The next thing he should do is re-introduce the American people to Phil Graham in a new attack ad.
Announcer:Meet Phil Graham
(picture of him picking his nose or something)
Announcer: Yeah that Phil Graham, the one that called you a whiner and said that this is just a mental recession.
(video of former Lehman Brothers employees walking out w/ boxes in their hands)
Announcer:When Phil was in Congress he was the one that spearheaded the fight to De-Regulate the banking and securites industries so that he and his banking buddies could cash in at the American people's expense. It was phil Graham and his cohorts that caused this economic mess we find oursleves in.
(video of gas prices and food prices rising and people on the unemployment line)
Announcer: So when John McCain wanted someone to write his Economic platform, who did he get to do it.....thats right Phil (your a bunch of whiners) Graham.
(Picture of McCain and Phil Graham hugging or something)
Announcer. We can't afford four more years of the same.
Obama: I'm Barack Obama and I approve this message.
Or something like that.
Obama/Biden'08---our last best hope.

WHEN WILL PALIN "MEET THE PRESS".. TAPPER WHY ARE YOU GUYS GIVING HER THIS FREE PASS???? COME ON!!! WE NEED REAL QUESTIONS AND NOT IN A COZY LIVING ROOM.

One who wants to look at an old boys network peer toward to Chicago and Chicago politics. High taxes, lousy schools and a murder rate in comparison to Iraq. Wanna blame someone for banks failing, look to pandering politicians who made "No job, no credit, No money down, no problem" a theme for folks who had no business getting a loan for"affordable housing". Crooks who drove fannie mae and mac into the ground, lined their pockets and wind up on the campaign staff of politicians.
Good old boys? Obama surely must be blind or he would have noticed more than a few hanging around him.

WOW - Obama is STUPIDER than I thought
he is criticizing McCain
What about Raines and Johnson who are his chief ECONOMIC advisors
DID HE NOT GET THE MEMO?
They were both riding the Fannie Mae gravy train to hell
oh and yeah
Johnson was ALSO an exec at LEHMAN Brothers
McCain is GONNA have a field day repsonding to these Obama lines --
How much further can this guy open mouth before inserting foot?
I look forward to the McCain ads tying Obama and his CHIEF ECONOMIC advisors to the FM and Lehamn debacles.
