Oliver Stone's "W" -- An Early Look

USA Today has a piece this morning all about director Oliver Stone's upcoming film "W"...a treatment of President Bush. The film - which is part comedy - is set to hit theaters on October 17th.
Here's a quote from USA Today's piece: "A man stands in the middle of a sunny baseball field, beaming a smile as the roar of an approving crowd is heard. An echoing announcer's voice calls out his name: "Ladies and gentlemen, the 43rd president of the United States …" But as the camera pans back, the cheering fades, and the stadium is revealed to be empty. With outstretched arms and raised head, the character's body forms an unmistakable symbol: W."
In another excerpt from USA Today Oliver Stone says: "I'm not interested in that radical 15% that hate Bush or the 15 to 20% who love Bush. That's not our audience. Those people probably won't come," he says. "I'm interested in that 60% in the American middle who at least have a little more open mind."

Does Oliver Stone really believe people will go to the movies to see this?
It will be on HBO, Showtime, etc. in 3 months if anyone is interested. $10 for a movie ticket to see Bush?

Dishing a President of the US in a film shows complete lack of class and creates a environment that is hostile to most intelligent and hard working Americans who want to see honest and courteous exchanges of ideas and differences. People who throw this type of material out cannot call themselves a "liberal". A "liberal" is supposed to be a person who embraces people who are different from them and accepts those differences. I'm a conservative who has many liberal friends and though we disagree on many things, we have a deep friendship for each other. This crowd has been out for Bush since Day 1 and it gets very tiring. Even at the end of his term they can't seem to control themselves. This film does absolutely nothing worthwhile. We don't need anymore of this.
