Palin: McCain's Daughter Blogs
September 02, 2008 11:55 AM
Meghan McCain, the Senator's daughter, blogs today about Bristol Palin's pregnancy...including about a moment that she says "single-handedly changed my life." Here's her post:
"The first political convention I ever attended was when my mom was pregnant with me in 1984 and the Republican Party nominated Ronald Reagan for a second term as President. I have been on political stages and in campaigns since before I could walk or talk. If there is one thing I have learned, it is that it is difficult to establish your identity and independence as the son or daughter of a politician. When I was 14 years old, a reporter questioned my father about me having a hypothetical abortion, had I been pregnant at 14. This reporter's question single-handedly changed my life. This story comes up in almost every profile written about me and in almost every interview. It's a rough go being the son or daughter of a politician. I have not known Bristol Palin very long, but there is a certain kinship I feel to her as I do other political daughters such as Chelsea Clinton, Jenna and Barbara Bush and Mary Cheney. You can't fully understand it unless you have lived it. So I just wanted to let it be known that I support Bristol and the entire Palin family."

That's great
but I do not agree with Barack Obama...
if you are claiming one policy is right and we see hypocrisy in your own family...and you still claim it is right (in this case to not teach sex education outside abstinence and then to not allow that uneducated child the right to not carry a pregnancy whether it effects/risks their health or life or not)
then this needs to be addressed before people vote for you.
Unfortunately your parent's take a stand that can be shown in their own lives to be wrong. That was yuor parent's choice to continue arguing for that law...and stance that they are asking to lead over.
that is the difference.

O8AMA .. read up on the story - this isn't your Maury Povich moment that you're used too!

Let's not get nasty, folks. The girl is having enough problems.
My issue is with the fact that although the Palins are dealing with this in their own way, they want to impose their way on everyone else and make it a legal issue in this country to outlaw a woman's right to choose. I say, mind your own business and let me mind mine.

A baby is expecting a baby; and get married to the baby.
This does not sound nice in our ears!

Wow who knew the girl had a brain. I am impressed.

Are we know reduced to teenaged GOP political pundits defending the right of unwed teen mothers and calling this a defining moment in life? So much for family values eh? Is this the kind of sex education we can now expect if these folks take the White House?

The fact that she has a pregnant teen-aged daughter is NOT news, it is salacious gossip. But this IS news...
-the fact that she's being investigated by the State of Alaska on charges of abuse of power, involving SEVERAL instances where according the special prosecutor in which she may have been complicit, which are substantially more serious that she had first led the McCain camp to believe IS news.(abuse of power/dishonesty)
- the fact that Gov. Palin has taken $27 million in earmarks IS news; (pandering/corruption)
-the fact that Gov. Palin was the DIRECTOR of indicted Sen. Ted Stevens' 527 and raised millions for him, IS news; (corrupt)
-the fact that Gov. Palin ran up a $20 million debt when she was mayor of a small town IS news.(misuse of authority)
- The fact that Gov. Palin was a member of the Buchanan Brigade IS news. (Anti-Semitic conservative, Nazi sympathizer)
- the fact that Gov. Palin is a member of Alaskans for Independence Party IS news;(sedition/treason)
-the fact that Gov. Palin is a NeoPentacostal Dominionist which is a church that preaches purging the Earth of all non-Christians by a specially anointed army of God (starting with the Jews), IS news; (religious fanaticism)
-The fact that as a teen Gov. Palin played a leading role as a member of said army (Joel's Army or the Army of the Third Wave-which most Christian theologians consider heretical in nature) IS news....
PS: All of these stories have been broken by other major media outlets over the week end... so if any of this IS news to you, my I suggest a Google search.

I read that on the boyfriends "My space" he said he did not want to be a father and have children. Nice a shotgun wedding on top of everything else.

No one is perfect in this world including me. I see our younger girls turning to young men for comfort, which leads to sex and then a baby. When there parents are not around and when they have to look after their younger siblings. They begin to feel like an adult instead of a child. Then they begin to act like adults.

I must say - I feel for this family. I as a parent am not sure I could have thrown my daughter out there where the media is going to chew her up. I think I would have had to say no thank you to McCain. I also wonder how she can take on such a big role with her having such a large family of her own to take care of. I think it says a lot of Obama to reconize that it's not our place to judge. Every person/family has something in their closet. I think she was thinking of herself and not her family. I myself have to be a mom before anything else.

Let's get real people, this isn 't 1960 anymore. Sadly, teen pregnancy is not something new, nor something declining. Look at the report GMA and primetime did on the community with the high number of teen pregnancies. It is certainly not a deal breaker as good/bad parenting goes (or ability to lead). This is not a reflection on the Palin family or the father-to-be's family other than raising children who stand up and face their responsibilities in the wake of mistakes.
I am not sure why the media is making such a to/do about it. We seem to relish the reports of teen mis-behavior and pregnancy out of Hollywood-why is this a bigger discussion point with parents than those of their children's idols.

We should be worried about the morals of our young people. Have we forgotten to teach them or did we forget them altogether.
This country have the highest pregnancy rate about teens. what are we going to do about it?
Who's the hypocrite? If that would have been one of the democrats' daughters we would have been all over it in a negative way. Only at certain times do we attack; when it suits our agenda.
First of all, at seventeen she shouldn't be pregnant. There is no applause. So, she's keeping the baby, what is that going to do to her life? The one she haven't lived yet. To force her to get married at her age is a mistake. Support her yes, but let the final decision be hers. We must not praise this incident because of the message it will send to other young people.
Even though this is election time and it being down played, we should really take a look at ourselves before we cast the stone. No one is perfect but we should not pounce on others as we have done in the past. It should not matter adults, or teens. We have attack others for their mistakes but are now willing to accept this sin. A sin is a sin.

I have been thinking about this even though if this was the democrats who had a daughter pregnant at 17 or 15 they would be talking about this as if she was the biggest slut alive the fact is it does happen and there is no point pretending that it doesnt or making palin feel she needs to take blame for it.
Even if she did take on her grandchild as her own child because her daughter was pregnant at 15.
the only thing it shows is her daughter made a mistake very very young and that she took the baby on as her daughter to save her family and possibly her daughter from the name calling and stained reputation.
The fact that she is getting married doesnt change anything for me..
being a single parent isnt the worst thing in the world as long as your doing right by your child.
im more worried about this investigation because if your willing to stoop to that level to self serve then should we really be giving her MORE power?

The only thing I would like to hear from
both your father and Palin is how they vview the Republican platform. I am amazed on their stance on public pre-school and kindergarten. If you're curious go to page 16. Do they agree or disagree on many of the other platform statements? Why would they waste money on a war that was not necessary and not on early childhood education. According to a resident Wisella Assembly of God commencemnt speech, Gov Palin referred to the Iraqi war as related to God's will. I thank God the Palins have the opportunity to make a CHOICE about their family and I as well as many Americans do not want to see your father and her work to take away our liberty of choice in the future.

I wonder if the closets of those trumpiting the family business of the palins are as pure as their big mouths are ariculating shame.

I am amazed at the support for Palin. I am a mother of an autistic child and 2 other children. There is no way I could have a full time job and meet the needs of my son and family. She does not have the experience and I do not feel her priorities are where they need to be.
