Questions For Sarah Palin (Cont'd)
September 10, 2008 12:14 PM
As the suggestions pile up -- in our in-boxes, on our voice mail, in the pages of the Anchorage Daily News, even in Maureen Dowd's column in the New York Times -- we thought we'd take a moment to thank those of you (483 of you at last count) who've posted thoughts for Charlie Gibson's interview with Sarah Palin. A cynic wrote to say it was obvious that Charlie wouldn't ever see the questions. Well, we can tell you the following: We've read every post; we've divided them by subject (interestingly, Iraq topped the list); and we've given a stack to Charlie. He -- and we -- appreciate the input.

Well just don't give her the questoins befor the interview. Put her on the spot and make her think. Ask her why she even asked about getting books banned.

THis is America and even asking that question should disqulify you from public office.

Why did you say nothing when every right wing pundit, from Rush Limbaugh to Bill O’Reily, chastised Jamie Lynn Spears for getting pregnant at 16 and they said “the parents are to blame” but, now that your own daughter, who was taught abstinence only, is pregnant, suddenly the topic is off limits… don’t you feel this is jus a little bit hypercritical?

Given that two years ago you were the mayor of a town of 6,000, tell America why you think you are ready to be president?

Who cares if Palin has lied repeatedly about her record in every speech she has given?
She looks like the naughty libriarian on Cinemax and I'll vote for her because of it!

QUESTIONS FOR SARAH PALIN
Did you vote for George Bush? Twice? Were you in favor of starting the war with Iraq? Do you find it inconsistent to praise your daughter’s choice to have her baby but deny that choice to others? Did you ever stand up to the oil companies not just to demand more money for Alaskans but to protect the natural environment that belongs to all Americans?

Ask her questions that a president would have to answer.
Ask her about the issues. She's running for the second most important job in America. The questions need to be just like those that McCain, Obama, and Biden have had to answer in interviews.
If she doesn't answer questions directly, Charlie must do like he did with others. Charlie must interrupt and say you're not answering my question.

I'd like to ask her why, when numerous media outlets and pundits have debunked her Bridge to Nowhere lie, she still hasn't "reformed" her stump speech in regards to the truth behind the one-liner. The American people deserve better than a one-liner as proof of fitness to lead the country. I'd also call her out on the plane on ebay lie too.

Some Softball Questions for Sarah Palin:
Talk with her about her education, and aspirations for her kids’ education. What does she think of her college experiences, and what educational credentials qualify her for the vice presidency? Does she hope any of her five children will eventually study and graduate at the college level? Boys and girls alike? Would college degrees make them too “elite”?
Ask her about community service. When and for what has she volunteered, for how long, for what reasons, and to what effects? Does she think that Jesus was a “community organizer”, and if not, what is her term for his community role or status? If so, does she think that followers of Jesus ought to emulate him in their own way, or otherwise try to be “points of light”?
Some of us have noted a touching kindness in the way she holds her infant, but an apparent lack of kindness in the content and manner of her speech. Does politics require kindness of anyone, amidst the rough and tumble? What does she think about “compassionate conservatism”, or would she prefer a different term? What has compassionate conservatism accomplished, and what remains to be done? Does she have any positions or plans in this regard? If elected, what levers of power will she have, and will she use, to bring these aspirations to fruition?
If she is all pitbull, well, she is running with the big dogs now, and should be able to answer big dog questions. Is there an axis of evil in the world, and what countries and regimes does she associate with it, and how would she handle them? Does the UN have a role? What would that be?
Some Christian groups have been exemplary in their dogged concern for the Darfur Crisis. What would she do in respect to China’s role in perpetuating that crisis?
What does make a person “elite”? Elitist? Do wealth, country club membership, and multiple homes make a person “elite”? Does a governorship, a Senate seat, or the Vice-Presidency? Which is more “elite”, a scholarship for graduate study, or a $122K seat on a Commission?
What makes a person or group “racist”? “Sexist”? Is it attitudes, behavior, history, beliefs, benign neglect, or overt embrace of certain ideologies? How extreme or subtle does the factor have to be before it counts? Once it counts, are policy efforts required to counter it?
Ask her explicitly why she timed her conversation with you for a 9/11 anniversary. How does she react to ordinary Americans who wonder if she is just exploiting a day they regard as sacred. Does she have something so important to say that it trumps more prayerful observations of this date? If so, is it really just more fear mongering, or is that unfair?

To GOP 4ever, or anyone else who is voting based on sex, race, or anything else superficial,
STAY HOME!!!!!
please leave the voting to people who actually care about the issues.

What does Obama's two-faced approach, calling you names and then accusing the reaction to his sexist remarks as being fake remind you of?

Do you agree with the unanimous decision of the 194 scientists from the IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change) that it is with 90% certainty that mankind is causing Global Warming?
Do you agree with Scientists that the Earth is 4.2 Billion years old and Evolution is how mankind came into existence?
Do you believe that Roe vs. Wade is settled law and a woman’s right to choose is a protected right?
With so many teenage girls getting pregnant, do you still believe that abstinence only should be taught in schools and that absolutely no additional education, such as the use of condoms, should be taught?
Do you still support drilling off shore even though it will only save American’s 3 cents on a gallon of gas in 10 years and no more than 7 cents a gallon in 20 years?

Please ask follow up questions Charlie for those of us who can't. This election is very significant and this may be her only interview.
Posted by: Stacey | Sep 10, 2008 12:43:47 PM
Much has been said that Charlie Gibson will conduct a biased soft interview ,one can only hope that wont be the case as it will only tarnish his reputation as a journalist even further. As David Gergen noted on CNN last night,it is curious that they would ask for the interview on the 11th when her son is being deployed to Iraq. We also wonder why he specifically engaged CHarlie Gibson for the interview? Did they know he will be soft? The voters deserve to have the answers to many unanswered questions. She has yet to prove she is cpable of holding the V.P. office and possibly the Presidential office. The voters deserve to know..so please ask relevant questions, particulalry on foreign affairs & not merely on Iraq.

Does Ms. Palin feel that the United States needs to have a tougher stance against the atrocities in Darfur?
Would Ms. Palin support school boards to have total control over curriculum without federal interference? Such as allowing Creationism to be taught along side or instead of evolution.
Does Ms. Palin believe that God is on OUR side in regards to the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan?
Thank you for considering my questions

I really like Charlie as an anchor. It just feels right to seem him at the desk every evening when I turn on the news. However, I fear he won't ask the questions that really need to be asked. Here are the questions I think he will have on his pad when he sits down with Palin:
1. So, what was it like getting that first call from Sen. McCain?
2. How has your family been dealing with all the excitement?
3. Tell me, what is it *really* like to be a hockey mom, and how is that different than being a soccer mom?
4. Tell the viewers about the role faith plays in your life?
5. Has it been frustrating to hear all the criticisms about you?
6. How does it feel to make history as the first GOP VP candidate?
and on, and on, and on. I think you get the picture. We will have learned *nothing*...book it.

Charlie,
Don't let her get by on platitudes. Ask her to explain her flip flop on the bridge to nowhere, per diem for staying at home, McCain's Iraq position and how it differs from Bush or Obama's, her pastor's Anti-American quotes, The Alaska Independent Party and her role in it, Alaska's portion of the federal "pork" she denounces, her extreme anti-abortion stance.
That should get you started.

Given the political instability of many regions of the globe - (North Korea, Iran, Russia/Georgia, Iraq) that could have major ramifications for Americans and the safety of our country and economy, what do you say to Americans that will and should convince them that you as a short-term governor is someone who should be entrusted with the Vice Presidency of the United States? What really qualifies you to be that close to the Presidency?

Ask her if she's a pitbull when she's not wearing lipstick :)
Posted by: LEPBTV | Sep 10, 2008 12:53:56 PM
Charlie, ask Ms. Palin what countries border Pakistan...better yet show her a map and ask her to identify Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan and Pakistan on a map.
