Questions For Sarah Palin
September 08, 2008 11:14 AM
As you may know, Charlie Gibson will have the first interview with the Alaska Governor and GOP VP nominee later this week. Last week many of you provided questions for our interview with Senator McCain; we welcome the same this time around...

Gov. Palin, as we all know this Nation consists of people of different religion and of course different faith.
On your views, do you think it is fair to impose your faith over the others who are not the same religion like yours?

Why did you misrepresent (lie) about your earmark record before the world? How can you be a maverick so tied to lobbyist and securing so much pork for your small town in Alaska. Why didn't you give the money back for the Bridge to NoWhere once you realized it was not good for your career to have pushed for it, you flipped, but kept the money.?..?

Do you still support abstinence only sex education?
Would you try and block any effort to use public funds to teach comprehensive sex education?
Why do you think it's ok to block an atheist or non believer's right to terminate a pregnancy, when your beliefs are based on christian teachings?

Please ask Ms. Palin about her position on the Arctic Refuge, climate warming and the treatment of wildlife in Alaska. Also ask her about her position specifically on aerial gunning of wolves and her support of mutilation of wolves by cutting off a leg as trophies and the payment of large bounties for the killing of wolves. Also be SURE to ask her about the misrepresentation of selling the jet on ebay. It has been widely reported she listed it on ebay, the reserve bid was NOT met and the plane was then removed from ebay and sold to a private corporation. Also, it has been reported she used her line item veto in Alaska to eliminate funding for a housing project for pregnant teenagers in Alaksa. Can we say hypocrite?

Your party's platform includes the call for a constitional amendment banning gay marriage. Do you support this? If such a thing was passed, who's life would be improved?

I would like to know if she sees herself as promoting only her own agenda or can she see herself listening to the people and supporting their views even if they aren't her own. The right for a woman to choose whether to continue a pregnancy, the right of people who are in love and the same sex to have a legally bound partnership, the right to read, watch and listen to what we choose we want to read, watch and listen to. Is the constitution more than a piece of paper to her? And finally, why does she feel allowing the killing of wolves by air is a way of preserving the balance of wildlife? She come across as anti-enviroment and pro-business.

Ask Gov. Palin these questions:
Why would she imply that Obama working as a community organizer not have responsibility?
Explain the federal earmarks that came back to Wasilla with the help of a lobbyist when she was mayor.
Posted by: LAM | Sep 8, 2008 11:44:26 AM
How would you describe your leadership style?
Posted by: rc | Sep 8, 2008 11:44:32 AM
I would hope Charlie can ask specific questions (with follow up) on subjects such as Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan, Georgia, Russia, Darfur, and China?
It's not ok to roll out your family on the cover of People magazine, give no substantive interviews, and then claim the "liberal" media is attacking you personally.
I hope the focus is on the issues, so that we as voters can determine if Ms. Palin deeply understands the most critical issues of the day. We all agree she is charismatic.

Should people vote for you because you are a woman? If so, why and if not why not? You invoked Hillary Clinton both when you were nominated and when you were speaking at the Republican Convention. What, apart from your gender, motherhood, and politics, do you have in common with Hillary Clinton?

I read that you admitted that you have been busy and only followed the Iraq War in terms of on what you'd seen on television. How can you explain this glaring interest gap in world affairs and yet feel qualified to be vice president?
Posted by: mary | Sep 8, 2008 11:44:53 AM
Charlie,
Please don't let this be a softball interview! My question would be how would she explain how someone who was a mayor of a town of 7,000 people for two years and Governor of a State half the size of San Francisco have the requisite foreign policy knowledge to be President?
Posted by: steve | Sep 8, 2008 11:45:13 AM
Already posted this elsewhere before there was an official "ask Palin" forum:
Ask if Gov Palin still supports federal funding for the Knik Arm bridge near her home town - more expensive but just as ridiculous as the "bridge to nowhere". That's another one where she has supported earmarks for in the past, but has yet to say "thanks, but no thanks" to.
Your questions should be, "will she go on record as saying as Governor of AK that she doesn't want federal funding for this bridge and will she commit to returning the money if the end up giving it to her anyway." That's what are REAL earmark reformer would do.
Generally though, PLEASE don't do the regular "walk along the shore/family background/shucks, we're just folks" type of interview filled with softballs, no follow-up, and just accepting it when they don't address your questions - this is too important to not do your job.

Sarah should be asked about her knowledge of middle east history and how the treaty of versaille reshaped the middle east and the persian empire, so we don't remake the same mistakes of the last administration

Please ask Ms. Palin Exactly what she meant in her statement that unlike community organizers, mayors actually do something. I found that statement extremely offensive and would like to hear exactly what she thinks community organizers do?

Gov. Palin, why do you believe the American public has reacted so positively to your nomination?
Given Joe Biden's strong foreign relations experience, what skills and direction will you bring to foreign policy in a McCain administration?
Gov. Palin, the feminist left has reacted angrily to your nomination in many public comments. Do you see yourself as a feminist, or as simply a hard working, dedicated individual who seeks to share their abilities with the American people? (Yes, there's a bit of sarcasm in this question.)
Come on folks, this woman's a winner, and no matter what questions you come up with, she's going to handle them with grace, intelligence, and wisdom that reflects her beliefs and the beliefs of most Americans.
Get over it, Obamacrats: Palin is the most refreshing political character to come forth in since Harry Truman. She dwill drive a McCain victory.

Considering recent presidental elections have been almost 50/50 split, do you feel that the winners have the responsibility to take into account that 50% of the country disagrees with them? Or is your responsibility only to the other half that elected you.
Posted by: rc | Sep 8, 2008 11:47:38 AM
As a very long time feminist and mother, the idea that McCain can trot out a pretty face and make a comparison to Hillary Clinton is absurd and revolting. Actions always speak louder than words and lies, no matter how eloquently delivered, are still lies. Sarah Palin can't convince me she is pro life while treating her special needs baby like a rag doll with no concern for his health or safety. No baby, especially one whose immune system is already compromised belongs at a convention of that magnitude. Please ask her about the deficit she left Wasilla; the attempt to censorship the local library;
the lack of environmental protection for her own state; other real issues that need to be shown to the voting public.

Your party platform opposes a woman's right to choose abortion even in the event of rape or incest. Is this in line with your view on the subject?
Posted by: Stephen | Sep 8, 2008 11:47:42 AM
If she is so against earmarks, why is Alaska number one in the country per capita?
There are 100 REAL questions to ask this woman.
PLEASE no soft-balls.
I'd also like to hear about her husband belonging to that separatist group.
