Hank Williams Jr. Serenades McCain, Palin
October 13, 2008 7:15 PM
ABC News' Kate Snow and Imtiyaz Delawala report: Hank Williams Jr. sure knows how to get a crowd going.
On a small stage in the middle of a sea of red t-shirts at the Richmond International Raceway in Virginia this afternoon, Williams stood a few feet from Republican vice presidential candidate Gov. Sarah Palin to sing the Star Spangled Banner. But it was his next song that was a surefire hit in this conservative crowd.
"The left wing liberal media … most American people don't believe 'em anyway you see," Williams intoned.
The tune seemed to be entitled "The McCain-Palin tradition" and was sung to the tune of Williams' song "Family tradition," a song with lyrics about drinking and smoking marijuana. No lyrics for the new song were immediately available from the campaign.
"They're not gonna blink. They’re gonna fix this country cause they're just like you and old hank," Williams sang of McCain and Palin.
And later of Palin: "How can you be so smart and be such a good lookin' dish?"
The song compares Palin to a "momma bear in Idaho" protecting her cubs, ready to protect America.
This morning at a rally in Virginia Beach, reporters thought they heard Williams sing: "They're not gonna blink. They don't have terrorist friends to whom their careers are linked." But the press corps was further away and could not hear the song clearly.
Williams did not appear to say the word "terrorist" at the Richmond event.

Oh geeze...people are so easy to get rilled up. To be honest, I don't care who leads this country - so long as they do it with logical thinking and not blind religous "advice" I agree that multi-billionares should DO something to aid the economy more. (after all, those same billionares took YOUR money because you allowed them too.) BTW, the Hank Williams some was hella tacky.

I hope that whoever wins this election, has the knowledge to put this nation back on top. Unfortunatly most of the voting public is voting blindly. I have watched these campaigns very closely and all I can say is "God help us All".
You've got left wing nut jobs on one side and "same ole, same ole" on the other. Niether canidate truly reflects what I think most of this nation is feeling niether can either canidate relate to what we all want. I say Change for the sake of change is just as bad as doing nothing.

Let's stop looking so much at the next president for all the answers, and concentrate on how the democratic majority run congress, has had 8 years to make these changes. And yet when it really seemed the worse for everyone, they have drug their feet once again. But so quick to " pass the buck ". Lets get our character morals, and some pride back into this country as one nation together.

MCSame and Palin. Both of these people are undereducated in my view. Thats why they rile up their base with racist rhetoric. That is what illiterate bubbas can understand. Bubba cant even see that a vote for this money hoarding
corrupt pair is a vote against his/her best interest. Look at Obama's campaign there has been nothing like it ever in American Politics. And you folks need to stop faking like you think Obama hangs with terrorists. You know better. Dont be mad because a black man is smarter, more prepared and more honest than these two will ever be. Its because he is black and Bubba god bless him is not there yet. Even though Obama is the best option for Bubba aquiring the health care to get his kids rotten teeth fixed. Bubba the republicans and Mccain let your jobs leave the country as a deregulator. The companies left the country and gave your job to a Indian or China man and you still dont care you still drink the kool aid " Country First" what a joke. I feel sorry for simple folk that fall for the BS. I like Bubba hes just not very smart, and he's getting played to be a bigot disguised as a McSame Palin supporter. SaaaaD

hank williams you are a disgrace to the south.you should be banned from ever performing in the south again.as far as
president i dont think eany of the people of the united states is ever going to see the US as it was to much damage
has been done by the REPUBLICANS (no president in office can fix the damage not in 4 years not in 8) i dont know if it can ever be.(THE AMERICAN PEOPLE ALREADY KNOW THIS. THAT IS WHY NOBODY WANTED TO RUN FOR PRESIDENT .

Victor:
I am NOT a Bubba, nor am I a Racist. I would support Colin Powell in a minute. Unfortunately I don't have that choice.
Your lack of tolerance towards those who don't agree with you is typical of the days when Bush said "you are either with me or against me". The Patriotism of those who disagreed with him was always questioned, thanks to people like Toby Keith. Now there is a BUBBA~!
Here you are supporting the new favorite of the media....just like they want you to. Do you think propaganda only exists in 3rd world countries? Its been going on here in the good ole USA for years.
Your guy has an ad on TV that says to STAND UP to the Insurance Companies... then he folded to them by supporting the Wall Street Bailout with all that bill's shiny add-ons.
I hope you live long enough to see the problems we'll be having once you and your fellow Barack supporters place a Democratic President with a Democratic controlled Congress. The last two years has been a downhill slide, and you think it's going to get better? May God help us all.

...one other thing.... How many Democrats are on the banking committee headed by Chris Dodd? Who supported de-regulation? Who started the whole free-trade fiasco...unfortunately it was my man, Bill Clinton.
But I'll be d a m n e d if I support another Democrat for a long time.

So? - Hank Williams, Jr. is nothing more than a washed-up ignorant with probably nothing more than a 10th grade education. All he is doing is appealing to the other uneducated rednecks who are responsible for electing the Bush-Cheney Regime we are suffering under today! That brings to mind the old saying, "Think education is expensive? - Try ignorance!"

Peach, too many questions for people mainly looking for a free lunch. The main thing on their collective mind (pun intended) is "when's lunch?" Don't expect people who are products of our public education faculty (which encourages mediocrity and praises Marxists)to understand the importance of your questions.
Posted by: baldrad | Oct 14, 2008 9:17:45 PM
Robert, that old saying is profound. That kind of ignorance is exhibited in the traditional, tedious, and boring HATE THE RICH line bought hook, line and sinker by the gullible, when offered by (change?--hilarious!)Obama et al.
Check out the economies where redistributionists got their way (current example--Zimbabwe) and see where it leads.

Just a few comments on what I've read.
1. Hank Williams Jr. Great entertainer. If he wants to support McCain-Palin; let him. Great song. Has some truth to it.
2. Barack Obama. If you want socialism go ahead and vote for him. If you want higher taxes go ahead and vote for him. If you think the economy is bad now, wait until Obama gets in.
3. Its not my place to tell you who to vote for. Just be sure you vote. McCain is not my first choice but I think its way better than Obama. McCain's saving grace is Sarah Palin. She may well be our first woman president in the future? Who knows.

so its ok for hasbeen rock and rollers to sing for nobama but a country star who has been around longer and had more albums and hits than half those loony rockers singing for a veteren is being ignorant.i would take hank over anyone who can only badmouth this great country anyday.listen to haward sterns interveiws with people who are voteing for nobama and see who is stupid they dont even know who his running mate is nor what his stand on anything is.
