While auto sales are suffering in this economy, anyone shopping for a new vehicle has more safe choices than ever. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety says 72 new cars and trucks earned its top safety award in front, side, and rear crash tests. Ford and Volvo led the list with 16 models. Honda and its Acura division followed with 13 winners. Chrysler was the only major automaker that didn't make the list. For the first time, every category, from minicar to large SUVs has a winner.
