Another Bush, Another High Office?
December 03, 2008 10:13 AM
Someone made the point here the other day than in the entire lifetime of the twin daughters of George and Laura Bush, there has scarcely been a time when a member of the family has not occupied a high position in government. Granddad was Vice President for their first seven years, President until they turned eleven; Dad was elected Governor of Texas in 1995, when the girls were fourteen, and of course he moved from the Governor's Mansion in Austin to the White House. By our count, that's just seven years of the 27-year-old twins' lives without a Bush in high office. And now comes the news that former Florida Governor Jeb Bush has his eyes on a U.S. Senate seat that becomes vacant in 2010. Here's the story. In an e-mail to ABC News, Jeb Bush writes: "I am going to think about it for the next month or so."

Jeb is the smarter of the two, but his take on the Terry Shiavo fiasco really turned me off.

Re: Terry Shiavo
You do remember that her parents were more than willing to take 'custody' of their daughter. It was the husband who wanted to pull the plug because he was getting married again.
I'm not saying he shouldn't have gotten married. It was time to move on.
However, why did he feel the need after so many years to pull the plug at that time? It didn't just happen; Terry was living like this for a very long time.
It seems her husband would have done this in the beginning, if he was so concerned about Terry living this way.
I'm not really judging the husband; this must have been very hard on him, as well.
I'm just looking at the timing.
I believe her parents should have been able to take over the care of their daughter.
I don't blame Jeb Bush for taking the side of Terry's parents.

When and if the time is right I would vote for a Bush woman for govener or even dare I say it, president, at least I've heard of them and they certainly would know their way around the block.
