Are You Going To Have A White Christmas? Snow Forecast Alert
December 18, 2008 9:56 AM
Sometimes you have to write a headline to suck the reader in knowing that it is a headline one can't really deliver on. No one knows for sure what the weather will bring one week out from Christmas. But, it does appear that there is a chance of a White Christmas this year...for a lot of you. Accuweather forecasters are calling it a "parade" of winter storms rolling across the country from west to east over the next week. 3 storms specifically are set to sweep across the US between now and the 25th. Chicago might see 6 inches beginning tonight. That snow moves east tomorrow. And then there is the eye catching snow in Las Vegas this morning...yes, Sin City is covered in white.

When I first saw snow in November 1960 I was thrilled: Philip Larkin called it a loose moth world. But one quickly learns that snow can turn into slush on city sidewalks.
A Christmas that is white in every sense (setting race aside) would indeed be a miracle. It will be a while before we get there, as I hope we do.

If the weather man can already predict the Christmas forecast, I am impressed. It is analogous to Ron Paul and Peter Schiff predicting the economic collapse. Very impressive.

I was hoping global warming would hold on until after new years.

Hope that we can have snow in New Orleans that last at least 1-2 days, Oh, how happy we would be, especially the children.

Denise, are you really from New Orleans?
It did snow last week.
Well, it snowed in Metairie and the northshore, anyway.
Also, why would snow mean global warming? I'm not clear on this.
It's snowed in New Orleans before.
It's rare, but it does happen.

Yes, but the snow did not last all day in most places.. Besides it's not even every year.. Someone stated the last time N.O. had snow, Katrina came. Hope that is not the case this season.... Yes, the snow was lovely.
