Should Plaxico Burress Be Allowed To Play?

December 01, 2008 1:19 PM

Nm_plaxico_burress_081130_main_3 New York Giants star wide receiver Plaxico Burress turned himself into to Police today.  Over the weekend he carried a gun into a nightclub and accidentaly shot himself in the leg.  He is physically ok, but far from ok when it comes to not only the law, but the NFL.  Burress joins a list of star football athletes whose off the field travails have landed them into a legal mess: Michael Vick, Adam "Pacman" Jones to name a few.  The NFL has pledged a "zero" tolerance policy to such digressions.  Now, with Plaxico Burress facing charges of  criminal possession of a gun what action should be taken.  The league says it will await the results of the criminal investigation of the incident.  Should Burress' team, the superbowl champion NY Giants, take action?  Is suspension enough?  What does a star team do when the star breaks the rules?

He endangered other people's lives.

Is he remorseful? -
or just sorry he got stupid and
'got caught'?

He seems to have more problems than just regarding his career.
Time for an evaluation all around.

Plaxico

Yet another example of why some people cannot change their mindset in a world starving for CHANGE.

Go ahead Plaxico. Be yet another statistic of the stupid.

A few inches and you would have suffered the same fate of another potential hall-of-famer Sean Taylor who died from a gunshot through his femoral artery. But in your case it would have been a self inflicted wound.

Go ahead Plaxico, in a country who is starving for folks who are going to sacrifice their stupidity and stand for something meaningful.

You a recipient of NFL's highest honor last year (super bowl ring) is not even worthty to even cohabitate people of a free society. You now prove (again)that you need legal supervision to assist you.

How is it that someone who can run elaborate football plays, have the will power and tenacity and discipline to keep themself in OPTIMAL condition and to display sometimes super-human ability cannot garner the common sense to know if you need to take a GUN to a place ensure yourself in having a "GOOD" time, that hmmmm maybe that is not the place your should be.

Wow.... I figure that one out Plaxico, and I don't even have a Super Bowl ring. I don't even have your intricate mind that encapsulates hundreds of offensive plays that is instrumental to you team reaching the pinnacle of success.

Thanks Plaxico,

Just when I thought that people of all walks of life and professions were ready for CHANGE, you proved me wrong. Thanks for bringing me back to earth when I was floating off to oblivion.

Was it a matter of too much, too soon?
Or was Plaxico always troubled?
What is his family like?
Are they horrified at his actions, or just angry that he might get booted off the team?

It's very sad that he has this talent, but behaves recklessly. He could have hurt someone else. Did he think of that?

I believe in redemption. He needs to leave football alone for now, and do some work with the help of therapists and his church.
Go do some real hard work for someone else - like building houses for the poor; or work on a farm for a while.

I wish him luck. Come back when you change for the better and redeem yourself.
