Donors To Bush Library Will Be Anonymous
January 05, 2009 1:06 PM
ABC News' Ryan Owens reports from Dallas:
President Bush is leaving office with historically low approval numbers so you might ask: Who would want to donate to the George W. Bush library here in Dallas? Well, it turns out we won't find out.
According to the Dallas Morning News, the foundation charged with raising $300 million dollars for the library at Southern Methodist University says it will NOT disclose the names of donors.
Perhaps that pledge of anonymity helps fund raising efforts. According to tax reports, the foundation has raised a measly $3 million so far.
For the record, there is no law requiring the disclosure of the names of donors to presidential libraries. In fact, President Clinton kept his private until he was forced to release them so his wife could be the next Secretary of State.

Since Bush is attempting to hide or expurgate anything that puts him in a bad light, there will be few documents anyway (or few of any historical value), so surely SMU can build a 10 by 10 structure to house it all.

Who here thinks that Bush has anything positive left to contribute to this world?

Not sure why we should really care about what ex-presidents do. This is about as news worthy as a pic of Bill or George the First in a golf cart...

Thank God At least he saved anyone fool enough to contribute the embarassment

If there is a job you have been dying for to have, then release names of donors. If there is no even a thought at all about the job, then don't even lip up.

Who would want to admit that they contributed?

Jeff Imparato---"surely SMU can build a 10 by 10 structure to house it all." that's what i and many other Dallas residents are praying for. the traffic and parking in that area is already congested. it's in the wealthiest area of Dallas and almost everyone there has a Land Rover, Hummer or Escalade. Ms. Bush is a librarian. it would be more efficient for her to just put his "papers" in order. i think everything has been redacted, thought. so maybe two bankers boxes would work.

Of course the donors are anonymous. His entire presidencey was anonymous. Worst president in our country's history, and it is not even close between him and whoever is second worst. Good riddance.
