Economy: Saving Pennies, And The 'Frugality Trap'

We've talked about it here in the past -- the vicious cycle that goes like this: people are tight on money...they hold back on spending...that hurts companies...those companies cut workers...and lo and behold we have more people who are tight on money...
Today, the Wall Street Journal puts interesting faces and names on the phenomenon.

This is small potatoes but could help someone.
Every day, when you come home, put all of your change into a jar with a lid. You will be pleasantly surprised how much you do not miss the change and how much you accumulate over a very short time.
I have done this for years through thick and thin and it works. At times, I have cashed the jar in for $30, $40, up up to $110.
