How to Save $26 BILLION of Your Money
January 06, 2009 9:52 AM
ABC's Tom Shine from DC:
As Henry Waxman prepares to take the chair over at house energy, his staff on his former committee, House Oversight and Government Reform is releasing one more interesting report. "The information obtained by the committee shows that the Bush Administration has failed to implement more than 13,800 Inspector General recommendations made since 2001. The information provided by the IGs also indicates that federal agencies could save taxpayers $25.9 billion by implementing open IG recommendations..."
The report provides some examples including this one: "In April of 2006, the Social Security Administration Inspector General estimated that the agency could save more than $2 billion annually by ceasing payments to people who no longer meet the eligibility criteria for disability benefits due to medical improvements or employment status."

Yeah, this is Bush's fault. Woo. People still would rather blame Bush for the problem.
Why not blame the people who took mortgages to buy homes they couldn't afford. When was it the President's job to manage my money.
Why don't we cut payroll tax in half. That'll save more then 2 billion annually. Hmm??

The article IG's report is only one way. The best way to save billions is to simply ask the government employee. By and large, these folks are good hard working people who actually would want to save the government money but they are apprehensive that they will not only not be listened to but will suffer for their imput. If we could tap into this resource, we would be well on our way to eliminating the national debt. But, for some reason, we discourage this.

There is enough blame to go around in both parties...let's just fix the problems, get rid of the free-loaders, and the crooked politicians and go forward...forgive and forget, and let's all make this country a better place to live, and work...God Bless us as we TRY!!
