Obama, Palin & Alfalfa

January 29, 2009 5:26 PM

ABC News' Stu Schutzman reports:

Barack Obama and Sarah Palin will share a stage this weekend. According to Politico.com, they are both slated to speak at the annual Alfalfa club dinner in Washington. Alfalfa's annual dinner is held every January to honor the birthday of General Robert E Lee...But no one seems to know why. Alfalfans are some of the country's elite movers and shakers; the rich and the powerful. Presidents and political leaders; captains of Industry; journalists, even astronauts. One source lists Sarah Palin as a member along with about 200 others including Henry Kissinger, Warren Buffett, General Colin Powell, Neil Armstrong, Donald Rumsfeld and on and on.

Ap_palin_obama_081003_main Impressive, but the annual Robert E. Lee banquet is literally the only thing they do. It's actually more of an annual celebrity roast. Palin and Obama may already be sharpening their daggers. The Governor says she wouldn't miss this for the world. "How often will I have the opportunity," she told Politico, "to have dinner with the President?" (see political races,President, 2012)

The club has been around since 1913, no one is quite sure why the name Alfalfa, but Politico points out that the plant, Alfalfa will do anything for a drinl...okay. And the Alfalfan's motto: Bis dat, qui cito dat. Loose translation: He gives twice who gives quickly...okay!

I am employed by one of those Fortune 500 companies that offshore work. I have been employed 5 years at a grassroots company. It was started after Pizza Hut moved to Dallas and left 18 courageous people to start a new company processing payroll,AP and other vital services. This company comes in and hires VP's to take over that do not know anything about our services. In 2006 we had approx 500 employees and at least 100 companies.
We were proud of our work. 2009 there might be 100, these V P's came in from the east coast and flying back and forth at leasta year and told us we were not productive why we don't get a raise. They flew, all the profit up, the VP's got bonuses but the hourly were just ignored. Now they announce the are closing up shop by September.
It is sad we even have to call India for IT help. America is a proud nation not a greedy bunch of hicks. I am all for raise and making a profit but when you come in and destroy a company that is sad. American Made!!!

I have followed politics for many years. Words have been warped! Fair means - you are fair if you agree with me and unfair if you don't agree with me. Just means - just as long as I get my way it is just and unjust if I don't get my way. I care means - I posture to care therefore if you disagree with me then you do not care.

If you are honest, you will agree with me - words have been twisted to advantage some and disadvantage others.

As far as Palin being the "divider" and Obama being the "unifier", let time tell the story. It seems that Obama has a certain amount of tolerance for those who disagree with him, as long as he wins the argument or upstages his opponent. Remember, these are debate techniques and define prowess not true character. I really hope that Obama is not acting when he speaks of unifying. But be aware that if everyone agrees with everything - isn't this a premise of Socialism. Isn't Socialism what historically has give power and money to a few and put many in bondage and subservience? Everyone has to follow the agenda or end up in a prison, isolation, or even get killed. Hardly, freedom of thought and speech!

Even China allows freedom to pursue business even if it will kill off those who do not be subservient to the government. Was America ever really like this historically? Hardly!

“Barack’s bumping fists with Bill Ayers,”
“He’s a socialist too!” Palin swears
But she’ll do her flip-flops
For some great photo ops
At her glorious leader’s affairs.
