Senator Burris?

January 07, 2009 10:32 AM

Ap_durbin_reid_burris_090107_main This just crossed on the Associated Press:

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Senate Democrats plan to accept Roland Burris for President-elect Barack Obama's vacant seat.

It tracks with what ABC's George Stephanopoulos has been reporting. Waiting to confirm this, and see what conditions, if any, are attached. Then we'll just need to sort out Minnesota (Franken? Coleman?) and New York (Kennedy? Cuomo? Maloney? Gillibrand? Israel? Others you may not have heard of?). Stay tuned...

Harry Reid and Company finally came to their senses.

They should have known better to step into this political quicksand, and if they are smart, they will make a public apology to Senator Burris.

Even if Obama was competent, Reid and Pelosi are NOT! I don't care if he manages to live up to half of the media HYPE, those two are abysmial. Just how badly does the leadership have to perform before they get tossed aside? The democrats were elected to END a war. Not only have the NOT even tried, they steamrolled a bll through against the will of the people to give taxpayer dollars to allow poor (read incompetent) banks to buy up the competent and well run banks. And on top of this, he wants a jobs bill, a enviroment bill that will be just as expensive, AND to reinvade Afghanistan, Pakistans and now for some unknown reason Sudan? Sudan? And you thought Iraq was irrational! Just how much money and how many soldiers does Obama want to take for his personal whims? Exit Bush enter Obama. One dumb MORON deserves another! Oh well, at least it wasn't "Insane McCain!" Ugh! Banana republics have better "democracies!"

I thought Harry had the Constitutional Authority - seems the guy is qualified to lead the US Senate

Why seat Burris? Why not let the people of Illinois decide who they want as a senator. Just the mere fact that Burris accepted this appointment from Blagojevich, amidst all of the pending investigation, shows poor judgment. Is it because this is the only way he'll ever become a U.S. Senator? I don't understand why the people of Illinois cannot decide who they want to represent them in the U.S. Senate. Why does Blagojevich still remain to be the governor of Illinois and continue to make a mockery of the state?

Seat Burris and get this nonsense over with. He is nothing more than an empty suit who is skilled in self-promotion, and with an ego bigger than the Capitol building, but he was appointed legitimately.

He was appointed legitimately by a governor who is under a big corruption scandal.
They have to seat Burris. He's the type of person who would bring people down with him if he wasn't seated. That's the democrats' fear.
If this is how democrats operate,
then you all have a lot of nerve to talk about the republicans.

That's the pot calling the kettle black.
