Dick Cheney Worried by America's Pull Back in Iraq

June 30, 2009 12:03 PM

A milestone is being reached today in Iraq.  U.S. troops are pulling out of 15 Iraqi cities.  It is the first phase of an overall departure plan that has American soldiers out (for the most part) of the country by the end of 2011.

The Washington Times radio show "America's Morning News" spoke with Dick Cheney, one of the architects of America's involvement in Iraq,

"What he says concerns me: That there is still a continuing problem. One might speculate that insurgents are waiting as soon as they get an opportunity to launch more attacks," said Cheney.  "I hope the Iraqis can deal with it. At some point they have to stand on their own, but I would not want to see the U.S. waste all the tremendous sacrifice that has gotten us to this point."

If Obama is going to help Chavez, Castro and Orgega reinstate Zedaya in Honduras, he's going to need some spare troops. He can't spread Marxism throughout the Americas if he doesn't have troops. Doesn't Cheney get it?

Oh, he is right...those Taliban terrorists are just waiting to get that area back again. Then all of our boys lives have been lost for nothing. I'm not sorry the boys are coming back, I hate them being there. But why did we go there in the first place? Just to let them take it all back again? Those Iraqi warriors don't have the skills to fight the terrorists off. This is Vietnam all over again.

Why should Cheney be worried? He spent 8 years telling us how good we were doing in Irak.Is this guy never going to shut up?

Would you be grateful to a nation that DESTROYED your country, Captured your leader and allowed him to be hung to death, allowed years of civil war, Tried to tell you what kind of government you would have and then said OK you,re on your own now; All based on lies?

Why are the airwaves sucked up with Cheney
comments? Why are you newsmen so quick to
have us saturated by someone who did not
serve and was not even a boy scout? This is DISservice to the men and women who are
lying down their lives, for all of us.

Each group in Iraq will continue their war with each other. It's a habit they can't break.
This would be their opportunity to blame America IF they could become peaceful after we leave. However, they just can't do it. Their hatred for each other is actually equal to their hatred for America.
I feel sorry for the truly sensible people in Iraq who do want peace. They are caught in the middle.
It's all a shame.

I think this is another example of what we've (the United States) done since World War II. We haven't won any conflict since then. We lose thousands of lives, have thousands of injuries -- both mental and physical, spend literally tons of money and have nothing to show for it. We just pull out. I don't see how we have gained anything. It has simply been a waste of lives, equipment, money and time. Why bother? If we're attacked, we should respond in a way which will insure no one will dare to attack us again.

Okay, we were attacked. Now what, Macbeth?

If the danger of a terrorist attack from Iraq is so great, what is Cheney doing out of his undisclosed location? Seems he is not happy unless he's shooting somebody.

Hey JK, we were attacked by Osama Bin Ladin in Afganistan, not Saddam in Iraq. That much we DO know. Why we went to Iraq is, (choose one) 1. Oil, 2. Revenge, 3. Ego, 4. Military Industrial Buddies, 5. All of the above.

Cheney you have to find your own way back home. You're on your own! Do not try to hijack any cargo ships, because we got that covered too!
