"It’s amazing. They did a good job being able to do what they did to control the vehicle to prevent additional events." -- Michigan State Police Trooper Charles Kemp, after a gasoline tanker exploded last night on I-75, about 10 miles north of downtown Detroit, collapsing an overpass and causing a spectacular fire which burned for hours
“What we can't do is pretend that somehow with all the waste that's in the system -- and everybody acknowledges that -- that we can just keep on doing business as usual and somehow bend the curve on health care costs in a way that not only provides affordable coverage to families but also makes sure that we don't have the federal budget blowing up.” -- President Barack Obama, to ABC's Medical Editor Tim Johnson

"Didn’t the White House prepare you?” -- Senator Al Franken, D-Minn.,
Ah, the first results from the Al Franken Prayer.
Proof there is a God and he/she listens!
Please God,
Plant in Mr. Al Franken the seeds of wisdom and may they be fast growing.
Please don't let his liberal tendencies get in the way of thoughtful decisions.
If that is too much to ask then at least let Franken provide us with bi-monthly senatorial entertainment of the humorous type intended or unintended on his part.
Amen

Noz: Nice post. But I would humbly suggest that his liberal tendencies would be the inspiration for thoughtful decisions. For historical perspective, I refer you to the suffragist movement, civil rights and Social Security. With a few exceptions, liberals have almost always been on the right side of history.

Franken's wisdom? yuk it up! whee, this IS FUN!, like TV! Dem's need not do the right thing, apparently unsufficient praise is being heaped, no need to ask questions about qualifications. Al Franken loves Minnesota like Hillery Clinton loves New York

Now that's the kind of thinking that will get us all in deep trouble.
No problem with considering Lib ideas, some of them are darn good.
However, there have been many well intentioned bad ideas and policy from the left over the last 50 years, don't kid yourself Ed.

The dems have also given society 'learned helplessness'.
At what point would you suggest that people start bettering themselves with the help offered?
I speak from my own experiences. When Katrina came along, we learned to 'stand in line' for all of the handouts. We got into that mentality and it only took a short while to do so.
It struck me one day what I was doing and my behavior surprised me. I immediately went back home to face the challenges head-on.
That 'learned helplessness' is a killer.

What does it say about the news when Al Franken's comment is the political comment headline!
