In the last 24 hours seven brave American soldiers died in Afghanistan.
Yet, the news coverage is dominated by Palin's salmon tweats, Sanford's neurotic cheats, and Jacko's death feats. The American people need to rearrange their priorities.

I couldn't care less what Sahra Palin does. She is full of herself. I wouldn't vote for her if she was the last person on earth.

Yes, very shrewd move!

The last election proved that anyone can be elected if you stay in the public eye, you stay out of trouble, and are a likable enough person regardless of whether you are qualified or competent to be POTUS.

Let's face it the last election was comparable to a high school class pres election where the popular kid with the cool posters beat the nerdy kid with the disability.

Just as the shine is coming off the new president, people are realizing the huge mess this country is in. And she puts herself back in the spotlight.

She eliminates herself from any issues that could come up in politics. Just as obama did as a do-nothing senator for 4 years while he ran for presidency.

She forced an apology from Letterman - whom I used to like decades ago, but now I just see as a hack from NY. But consider this, his arrogance has finally been broken by her. I never remember him apologizing for any of his so-called jokes.

She will make more money giving speeches, writing books, etc. without having to be obligated by campaign financing laws.

Finally, the stimulus is not working - personally I believe it was just a huge pork bill to pay back the entities that got him elected.

The Dems will likely be forced out in 2010 just as they were in 1994 - Obama may still be popular enough to be re-elected in 2012. Heck, he's even said that if the stimulus fails - he fails. He bet the whole farm on legislation passed in the first 2 months of his presidency.

Who knows, maybe in 3 years she will choose to run, maybe she will become a major power broker in her party, or a political commentator - but in any case she comes away from smelling like a rose.

@ghc630 - You *couldn't* vote for SP if she was the last person on earth. You wouldn't be here to do so. ;)

But seriously, enough with discussing this idiot. She's on her way to becoming a female Rush, raking in millions of $$ telling a diminishing crowd what they want to hear. Godspeed.

Posted by: Peri | Jul 6, 2009 7:23:57 PM

So would you prefer JM and SP in office? would things be any better at this point? the economy was a mess before our current president what makes you think that it would be any different if the president was a republican? Or are you saying that Republicans could have turned this country around in 4 months? If that is the case then why didn't Bush turn it around? wasn't he a republican. He did a bang up job! it's easy to sit back and critize someone for trying to fix the mess left from the last management team. I don't hear anyone blaming this bad economy on the previous administration. Oh no, it's all the new presidents fault. Give it a break, only persistance and time will correct what has been left uncorrected from administration to administration. I am all for womens rights but Sarah Palin couldnt run this country.

If Sarah Palin was 5'5 and weighed 175 lbs like most American women, and didn't have movie star or model type looks and made those dumb statements, most Americans including the news would ignore here, and she would just be what she is a backwater governor with a viewpoint that is unrealistic and looks backward instead of forward

Wow,can't take the heat!!! Does this mean that the attacks have ended or just started??? Thank God she was'nt voted in as Vice President!!! Thats all we need now is more confussion in Washington trying to fill the VP spot.
Stay home cheaters and quitters !!!

I dont know if anyone heard her resignation speech it was 22 minutes but I would encourage all to watch. Anyway, all the legal battles she has been fighting has been costing Alaska millions of dollars. We have no one to thank but the wonderful government run media. When was the last time a LOSING VP candidate was so relentlessly personally attacked. Unlike many politicians she decided to take the high road and take her family and Alaska out of the negative spot light. Will she seek some "lucrative" offers for speeches or whatever? Wouldnt you? With all the legal bills she has to pay for defending herself against baseless acusations, she will need a few bucks.

Michelle.

Actually I did not like either BO or JM.

Let's face this issue, the repubs and demos have both got us to this mess.

While Bush was pres from 2001-2008, Pelosi and the dems (including BO ) controlled the congress from 2006 thru the present. So in effect, he was a lame duck president - any fifth grade history student will understand that.

Why did they wait until jan 2009 to do anything? Indeed, they are all just as culpable.

It took no genius to see what was on the horizon, I saw this as an individual coming years ago - the problem was basically people spending beyond their means. Just as they did before the depression.

The whole game changed in the 90's when people were encouraged to live in a house 2-5 years, take the 250k cap gain (500k if married ) and leverage up to a bigger house. With the realtors always saying - "Buy as much house as you can afford - You never lose money in real estate"

Oh how wrong they were!!!!

Oh, by the way - when I bought a home in 1991 (a recession year) - interest rates were 10% and my bank only approved my loan based upon 28%/36% ratio. It was considered insanity to get an ARM, because everyone knew how high rates were in the late 70's/ early 89's. No one ever imagined they would go below 5%.

Well, I sold my house in 2005 content to wait for the housing bubble to finally burst. What do I get for my attention to history, living within my means? I am now forced to pay higher taxes to keep people in homes they can't afford.

Also, the stimulus will not work because it's not focused on solving the problem at hand. Similarly, the takeover of GM and Chrysler by the govt will fail as well. These are all just attempts to pay off the people that put bo in power.

For far too long we have had politicians with the Audacity of Arrogance

---------

As for who I would have liked to see there now? There is only one answer for me. RON PAUL

He had the age, wisdom, and experience to be literally yelling about this, but the American people ignored him because the media did not consider him a viable candidate.

Even now he is working for us, demanding an audit of the FED - requiring them to answer to the american public where the TARP money and stimulus money is being spent. FYI, there is hope, many other members of Congress are supporting an audit of the FED

But as I said before, the FED and much of our govt. does not think they have to answer to the american public.

Well, Some people have conveniently forgotten but I remember when George W. Bush ran for Governor of Texas beating Ann Richardson. She said in her campaign that George was only using the Governor’s Seat as a stepping stone to the White House. I also remember George adamantly denying this allegation but LOOK, he didn't remain Texas Governor very long before he declared his candidacy for Presidency!! So once again the Good Ol' Boy’s Club is slinging mud at a woman even though they encouraged one of their own to do the same thing!!

Sincerely,

Kristi Kennedy

More ethics complaints out today.

She is admitted to a mental hospital?

She does some more crazy things and blames her bother in Law, Bristol's Ex-boyfriend, the press?

She plays the victim by saying we don't think she is a victim?

Why is the Liberal media so afraid
of Sarah Palin? She is beautiful,
talented, and the last time I checked,
this is a FREE country (won't be long
at the rate it is going.) If she wants
to quit her job, isn't that what the
Liberals were saying during her run for
VP...that she needed to be at home with
her kids? She has a baby, and kids,
blah, blah, blah. As for the economy..
don't blame Bush. He did not fire GM's
CEO, nor did he force GM and Chrysler
into bankruptcy...neither did he rack up a trillion $ debt. Place the blame
where it lies...on the Great One.

Hate is not the opposite of love...indifference is ...No matter what side your on...Sarah Palin MATTERS...and that counts alot in politics......when the economy and the country go further down the tubes with Obama and the liberal idiots in Congress..the backlash of conservatism will surely follow and many independent voters and moderate democrats/republicans could swing right...and there is no one today that has more charisma combined with those values that will surely be what leads this country back to sanity (we can only hope)

I suppose we can be pardoned from our work responsibilities knowing that she gets to take a vacation right before she leaves??????

Posted by: breezy | Jul 6, 2009 11:11:41 PM

Where do I send the check to show Sarah Palin my support? Post it will ya? I'll send mine in. She's more solid, sound, and closer to being honest than any other politician "in there" oops, I mean out there. Well, it's both! But, my check is written! While I still have some until the $ Czar checks my account.

This is the BEST strategic move ever! There is NO downside.

Sarah is the only Republican who energizes the base - no one else comes close - that's why our last election was a complete disaster - until Sarah came on the scene!! That's why the liberal media tried to destroy her. I hope we've learned our lesson. If the liberal media hates you - then you really are a winner!

She is exactly what the Conservative/Republican party needs....thank GOD for Sarah!!!

Finally, someone who I WANT TO VOTE FOR!!! Instead of voting for the worst of two losers!

It's about time the Republican party get their act together early! Clean out the trash - (cheaters & low lifes)

Way to go Sarah!!! You're brilliant!

As an actual Alaskan, I say that the only fly in the ointment in seeing Sarah "Dontcha Know" Palin go is the complete nutjob she chose in 2008 for her running mate, who is now Lt. Governor.

Her accession to office was a fluke (based upon the complete incompetence of another GOP 'hero'--former Sen. Frank Murkowski), and she was never big enough for the job.

VP? POTUS? You've got to be kidding. I never thought I could imagine the election of someone to the presidency who would cause me to look back and long for the strong, steady hand of GW Bush upon the helm! Sarah Palin managed to do that!

Posted by: Peter T. Hooper | Jul 7, 2009 4:44:50 AM

Correction: That would be in 2006 when she ran for Gov. and chose her running mate. Those typos!

Posted by: Peter T. Hooper | Jul 7, 2009 4:52:47 AM

This was no shrewd move. She abandoned her position. Whether for future political aspirations or because she couldn't handle the scrutiny or criticism, she abandonded her job! If she can't run a state how can we rely on her to run our country? Is she going to bow out whenever she can't take the heat or she gets tired and wants to go salmon fishing?

Posted by: TD | Jul 7, 2009 1:53:40 PM

I am waiting for the bombshell. Palin resigned because it's going to come out she was in Argentina having an affair with Governor Mark Sanford.

Either that, or it will come out that she donated her eggs to Michael Jackson.
