Eggo Waffle Shortage!
November 16, 2009 4:41 PM
ABC’s Brian Hartman noticed a shortage of none other than Eggo waffles. What’s going on? Here, below, is a Q and A from the Eggo website. Mystery solved:
Question:
I have not been able to find Eggo® waffles in the store. When will they be available again?
Answer:
Eggo recently experienced supply constraints caused by flood damage at our bakery in Atlanta. In addition, we've been making significant equipment and technology enhancements at our other waffle bakeries. Unfortunately, these repairs and upgrades are taking longer than anticipated.

No Eggos? How WILL Western Civilization survive?

Oh heavens!!! Just make your own, they're easy to make and taste a million times better than the cardboard coming out of your toaster. :)

I agree about making your own.
And if you think that's too much effort early in the morning, you can make your own and leave them slightly underdone when you take them out of the waffle baker. Freeze them in ziplock bags, then take them out in the morning, pop them in the toaster, and you have "fresh" home-made waffles. No additives, no preservatives.
I make a couple of batches of batter, bake them all up (leaving them slightly underbrowned) and always have a supply in my freezer.

Also the recall for salmonella I think it was, a month or so ago might have caused the shortage and their 'upgrading' and such.
