Our Cancer Story -- Shrinking Tumors At Mass General

November 12, 2009 2:11 PM

Bill Schuette was a lung cancer patient in Versailles, Ohio who had tried seven different kinds of chemotherapy without much success and he was losing hope.  That is until he saw one of our broadcasts this past June and a “Medicine on the Cutting Edge” segment.  We reported on a more thorough way of genetically screening tumors to find new ways of killing them.  After watching the World News report, he immediately reached out to the doctors, was found to have a genetic mutation that was the exact target of a drug in clinical trials and he is now on the road to recovery.  Bill shared his story with us on World News this past Tuesday and ever since we’ve been getting calls from cancer patients or concerned family and friends eager for more information.
