Quotes of the Day: 'We'll come after you...'
November 05, 2009 2:37 PM
"When it comes to AARP, this is no small endorsement. The AARP knows this bill...is a good deal for our seniors. That's why we're thrilled they're standing up for this effort." -- President Obama, on the AARP’s endorsement of a House Democrats’ health care legislation
"This bill is the greatest threat to freedom that I have seen." -- House Minority leader John Boehner, R-Ohio, on the same bill
“We’ll come after you…You’re gonna find yourself in a very tough hole if you’re arguing for the president’s stimulus plan or Nancy Pelosi’s health plan. There’s no justification for growing the size of government the way this administration and this Congress wants to do it.” -- Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele, in a warning shot aimed at moderate Republicans
“Now that the warm-up band is finished playing…” -- White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs, after a surprise appearance in the briefing room by President Obama

Something's wrong with this AARP endorsement of the Pelosi Plan.
I applied my nose and it doesn't pass the smell test.
Look for FOX News to dig into this story and find someone who stands to profit at the expense of seniors.

Lets look at this rationally. AARP is an insurance company yet they are backing the Pelosi plan that will tax and place restrictions on them to eventually have the single payor plan in place. My guess is they sold their soles out and can expect a big payday because after all they are a greedy insurance company.

The AARP is gambling, and they know it.

There must be a money trail for the AARP to jump onto the Obamacare wagon!
Since the AARP has sided against us let's just hope we can boycott them and let them feel the recession too!
Hopefully Pelosi is smarter than she seems, and I assume Obama to be high IQ . . . so I have to ask why would they continue on this path to double the national debt to $24 trillion by 2019. The Congressional Budget Office warns that the current level of debt is unsustainable, so how can any American with half a brain continue down this path?
I haven't heard anyone even hint at a plan to mitigate the debt, so it seem that no one in the administration or the congress are even considering doing anything about it.
There are some vague references to reducing the deficit, but that's a whole 'nother story from the rising debt. A reduced deficit still leaves that ole debt climbing. Are these people Americans or what?

AARP, the American Medical Association, and The American Cancer Society all endorse the Democratic bill. These are all well-respected organizations who make it their business to know what is going on in the arena of American health care. The GOP would like to make these endorsements about some evil socialist conspiracy, but htat is just not the case. On the contrary, the GOP's tooth-and-nail fight against health care reform is what smacks of conspiracy, with the insurance and pharmaceuatical lobbies who are footing the hefty bill for their politically-and money-motivated opposition. Those industries are working hard to fool Americans into fighting for their own narrow economic interests, the same ones that by the way have caused our health care disgrace and the exodus of full-time jobs out of our country, by tapping into political hate and "re-branding" the real issue as "fiscal responsibility".

I hear ya iamwomaninMI, that's why I'm scratching my head as to why these organizations are endorsing the Pelosi Plan.
I'm with you, it just doesn't make sense.
Didn't they do their homework?
It's as if 2 + 2 on Capitol Hill = 7.

If ever there was proof of the hijacked GOP's conspiracy against John Q. Public, its rabid opposition to fixing healthcare is it. The GOP can find endless streams of dollars to finance increased wealth for the wealthy and questionable, open-ended war, but decent health care has 'em screeching about the deficit.

Clearly, some Americans read "Federal" as "feral" and others as "fraternal."

The AARP knows this plan is good for seniors? What will the AARP sell to seniors when the dollar crashes as the national debt doubles to $24 trillion?
I was wise to let my membership lapse, though it would have been sweet to be able to cancel at this time.
I do mail their postpaid envelopes back to them with a note as to why I won't join!
