The New Saddam Hussein Biography
November 09, 2009 2:38 PM
ABC's Jan Simmonds reports from New York:
The New York Times’ “At War” blog has a write-up today about a new Saddam Hussein biography (part one of a trilogy) published in Sudan last month and there are rumors surrounding it being sold in Iraq. The book is written by his lawyer Khalil Dulaimi and is based on Hussein’s diaries and conversations.
In the book, Dulaimi tells how Hussein described his arrest, plans for escape (through a coordinated attack by a special rescue detail) and how his American guards had asked for his autograph. Elsewhere Mr. Dulaimi claims that Iraqi guards severed Mr. Hussein’s head and paraded it around the city.
The Iraqi deputy minister of culture says the government was not preventing publication, but that under the Constitution it could ban any book deemed to promote sectarian violence or Saddamist ideology. The Times notes that there is a relatively high interest in the book, possibly reflecting a changing perception of the dictator in today’s light.

I'm certain that people in high places reflect on the 'what ifs'.
What if Saddam was still in power?
Would al qaeda and the taliban be able to do as much damage as they have?
You won't hear too many people saying it out loud, but they're thinking it.
Saddam was a very bad person - that is clear.
I just hope we can find our way home very soon. The soldiers are spread thin.
What is Obama going to do?
I appreciate the fact that Pres. Obama is pondering over this. He's not taking it lightly - that is good.
However, the time has come to make a decision.

Mr. Saddam Hussein was a great man and most of the world loved him more than they did bush or the US, even soldiers admired him, a lot of people still do especially his family and countryma, We have to admit that The Bush and his men lied to the world and went into Iraq without the approval of the international community, and that was awful not to mention the fact that the whole world was watching a war that was never and has never been a War, Why I give you a good example the US marines were really excited to go to war well the tough ones, the ones with a heart not the chicken ones! anyway they never got into any combat why? well I tell you why: They destroyed the Republican Guard in 10 minutes, they never had a chance to fight and nor they, the few the proud were robbed of their dignity. so everything has been wrong ever since.
