Daily Roundtable: It's Oprah Time!
December 08, 2007 12:12 PM
In the news today...
Oprah, Obama and the whole Clinton clan barnstorm Iowa.
Meanwhile, the CIA continues to take heat over the destruction of interrogation videos.
And Sec. Gates joins the post-NIE rhetoric, saying Gulf Nations need to tell Iran to "come clean."
The "This Week" staff is hard at work, spending this rainy sunny Saturday prepping for the Sunday show.
Tomorrow we have a "Classic Roundtable" with Sam Donaldson, Cokie Roberts and George Will in the studio to discuss the week's news.
Do you think Oprah will boost Obama's numbers in Iowa? Check back here for my live blog of the Oprah event (4:30PM Eastern). You can also watch the streaming video on our website and the ABC News Politics page.

There was someone who made the statement, “For the first time since JFK, Obama and Oprah is waking up America. I do feel the excitement , but, that statement is NOT true. I remember that most people, especially, people of color, were fed up with the Reagon Administration. When Clinton won his first term, there wasn’t much excitement. But, for his SECOND term campaign, there was a whole lot of excitement. Clinton’s Administration produce a large number of FIRST time self-made MILLIONAIRES. And, during Bush’s time, the FIRST time millionaires filed for BANKRUPTCY. I remember watching a TV Show where they focus on Reagon’s first two years in office. They said that when he entered office, our DEFICIT was almost nothing. But, within his first 2 years, it increased to over 200,000,000 million. By the time Reagon left office, our DEFICIT had reach a trillion. This is a whole lot of money for the 80’s. In most of America, the COST of living was almost nothing. And NOW, Bush has done the same. Why is it when a Republican enters office, the first thing on their AGENDA is to FIND a reason to increase MILITARY spending? Did Bush start the WAR to increase military spending? And, doesn’t it seem suspicious that the body of people the President is over, the Military, is the department that has the highest increase in funds? If a Republican is ever elected again in to Office of President, hopefully they will not follow in the foot steps of their Republicans forefathers; they should learn from their mistakes; and, break the CYCLE.

KISS of Faith or KISS of Death. It is a big mistake to choose a Candidate solely on the basis of who is supporting them Remember, Bush gave Oprah a PECK/Kiss on the Cheek and won his first term. For almost 8 years, it has been a Peck of PAIN. We are still suffering from the consequence of our decision. And now, history is about to repeat itself. It is now Obama’s time to experience the most salt after KISS in all the land of Politics. Keep in mind that the KISS is NOT a reliable source for understanding the true self or true intentions of a Candidate. It doesn’t guarantee the Candidate will be in the best interest of the PEOPLE. Nor, does the KISS guarantee that the Candidate will carry forth their responsibilities with GENEROSIY, HONESTY, and INTEGRITY. One thing that it does do is increase the chances of a Candidate winning an election. Now, let’s look at the last recipient of the most salt after KISS in the land of Politics, George W. Bush. Immediately following the KISS, George won his first term. He went from the KISS - To the White House - To Moms and Dads weeping for the lost of their Children who died fighting in Iraq. Right after the start of the WAR, with a smile on his face, Bush said, “This one is for YOU Dad!” Was the WAR for Democracy or a family VENDETTA? Did Bush want to be President for the sole purpose of waging a WAR against his Daddy’s enemies. This is why I feel that we should be careful who we put in office. For Obama-Oprah ticket, how will we really know the Man if everything he says or does is influence by someone else. If Obama wins in 2008, WHO will we be following; the Entertainer ‘O’ or the Politician ‘O”?
