Coming Up: "On the Trail" with John McCain
February 16, 2008 1:47 PM
This Sunday, George is "On the Trail" with Senator John McCain in Wisconsin.
On Thursday McCain won one endorsement from former rival Gov. Mitt Romney, and on Monday McCain is set to get another from former President George H.W. Bush.
Also this week, the Arizona senator and Republican frontrunner looked ahead to the general election, asking a possible opponent - Sen. Barack Obama - to join him in promising to use public financing for his campaign.
Tune in to hear George talk with McCain about his efforts to court conservatives and about the coming general election.

The choice between McCain & Obama is like choosing between Attilla the Hun & Osama Bin Laden!

McCain just voted to allow the CIA to do to "detainees" what the North Vietnamese did to him. He is a hypocrite of the worst kind.

I have been watching This Week for years and this is the last week, until they go to HD. And the saddest part is that in Los Angeles on Verizon Fios service the only Sunday morning show, in HD, is on Fox. I never watch Fox...until now. Sorry ABC but I can no longer do non-HD on Sunday morning.

For Senator McCain to say that the surge is working in Iraq will just be platitude as he addressed Senator Obama's "Hope message". Iraq has been kept in life support by the United States military, the so called "surge". Once the military leaves the insurgent will run over the United States installed government, get rid of the individuals involved, and consolidate the Iraqi federation. It does not need a scientist to know that, but what need to be learned are the Islamic culture, beliefs, and behavior. It seems that no one has addressed that issue. Iraq is not just any other country, it is an Islamic country. It seems that Obama understood that and that reflected in his vote against the war. He was right on the first day.
What will United States do? Stay in Iraq for 100 years as McCain has proposed? It may be easier for McCain to name Iraq the 51st State and then waste United States' money and lives. Playing politics to gain the support of conservatives or to appease the Republican Party is again just being platitude. What does McCain stands for? Obama was correct; the wheels of the free express came off on the campaign trail.
Let our people go and bring our people home.

If John McCain plans on staying in Iraq how is he going to fund it? He says no new taxes. When are the Republicans going to realize you can keep spending without raising the revenue. We may have tax and spend Democrats and just spend Republicans.

Mike Rose - Are you saying you are really going to pick glitz over content?
No wonder the country is in the toilet. Everyone wants glitter and not substance. Its a shame.

I can't believe that all John McCain can say about the economy is "these are tough times." How out of touch. He has lost this conservative's vote.
What would happen in elections if these candidates could campaign ONLY on their voting records? How many times have they come to work? How many votes have they missed? I like "This Week," but I would like to see Mr. Stephanopoulos report on these important facts.
