Ray_bakerMeet "This Week's" Ray Baker, intern extraordinaire. Ray is a senior at Howard University with an affinity for politics and sports. At "This Week," Ray helps with the Sunday Funnies, show production, research, and pretty much everything else.

How did you first get interested in media?

I first got interested in media as a high school student. I won a speech contest that a local news station was sponsoring. It was about then when I found out I could make a career out of talking. When I got to college I learned that, although I can have a career in talking, I really need to be informed and be sure I'm speaking truth. Otherwise it becomes what the Egyptians called "tef tef."

What is something you've learned during your internship that you never thought you'd learn?

Something I learned that I never thought I'd learn was about the business of television. There is so much preparation that goes into making sure everything looks right. I had no idea how much preparation was needed to make sure television looks flawless and effortless to the viewers.

What are the best and worst things about your internship?

I think my professors would want me to give an academic answer as to what the best thing about the internship is, but truthfully the best thing about this job is Donna Brazile. She's great and it really has nothing to with her political views. She's just a brilliant, hilarious, down to earth woman. So I'd have to go with Donna Brazile and the scrambled eggs on Sunday Morning come in a very close second.

The worst thing about the job is working weekends. We have to be here pretty early Sunday morning and I'm still a college guy at heart so I'm used to hanging out and partying with my friends on the weekends. But since I've been interning here I have had to stop that.

Who are your favorite television personalities?

My favorite television personalities are lesser known but do really good and substantial work. One guy is named Jeff Johnson. He does some work for BET. Another guy I like is Ed Gordon. Obviously I'm a fan of George. Working with him I get to see first hand how talented and informed he is about political issues and social issues of the day.

What do you plan to do after graduation?

After graduation I plan to work in either community or political organizing. I have some opportunities looming that look promising so I am excited about that. Over the summer though I will be working at a summer camp I've been working at for the last three years. Those kids are important to me so rather than jump right into my career, I'd like to have one last summer where I can give something back to those kids.

If you have any questions for Ray Baker, post them in the comments section and he'll respond.

I love your program. I am not watching other one any more. Here are some of my concerns:

I would like to take this time to bring up a few important matters to every one’s attention:
First I would like to say that I am a registered Republican and what I am about to say is only out of care and respect to “Democrat Party”.
Two or three days ago I saw a poster or an advertisement with Obama’s picture in front of a Cross!
I thought he already told us how long ago and how he became a Christian! And we accepted his denouncing & separating from his pastor. Of course when we accepted his denunciation of his pastor, we wished it had happened long time ago.
His picture in front of the Cross brought up many questions. I can tell you at least 8 out of 10 people were wondering why the picture was taken? Does he need assurance about his religion? Or does he think people still have doubt? This time he decided to bring this matter to the public attention without preaching but in a picture in front of a Cross to enforce his Christianity.
He said and repeated today that he will talk to Ahmadi Nejad or meet with Hammas or any U.S. enemies! Today he even gave more power to Iranian by comparing Iran to the Russia (U.S.S.R.)! while he was defending himself against Mc Cain.
Or actually, deep in his heart he was thinking if he ever becomes the nominee and win the Presidency of the most powerful Country in the world, he should take advantage of telling Ahmadi Nejd and Hammers that his Father was a Muslim and Islam is in his DNA. And by telling them about his DNA, which is very powerful reason he might be able to at least bring them to the table for a wishful talk!
As I am thinking about wishful Obama, the following story, which is a true story, came to my mind.
There was a man, whose name was Mohammad. After 9/11 he called himself Mo! He was asked what does Mo stands for. He said it depends… he was asked what do you mean? He said well, if you are Jewish it stands for Moses but if you are Muslim, it stands for Mohammad. Obama reminds me of that Poor man who had to change his name to Mo to be able to survive…
For the longest time Obama kept saying I am Christian and if you don’t believe me ask my Pastor who is like an uncle to me and he is the one who introduced me to Christianity, etc. ….!!!
Do those who contributing, especially those who are indorsing him ever thought about this man’s “Obama” DNA, which we must believe and trust.
No matter how all those Radio and Television stations support one candidate and highly get paid for the air time and what they say such as ugly comments with cheap shot about the opponent, remember, it will only make the opponent and McCain look stronger because every one knows and believes that she is stronger and is a Fighter. So, please be careful what you say about one another, be fair and do not give your support and vote only because of ones race. Look at the background, experiences, knowledge, and relationship and compare them with others. We don’t know of many things, which might comes out of closet later and disappoint all the wishful Democrats.
One more thing I have to say: All of you Democrats should be concern about the most important decision that DNC Committee will make on May 31, which is about Florida and Michigan? Every vote of every American must be counted before any decision is made. If DNC Committee decides in any way not to include Florida and Michigan, which has a large number of votes, I can assure you that Democrat Party will not even be able to get close in winning the White House.
For this reason The DNC Committee must be very careful with the decision they are about to make on May 31st.
Respectfully submitted
