Indy 08,
No way to tell if your comments are for real, and I suspect that this is another right wing whisper campaign that the Republicans are so good at, masterminded by Karl Rove himself. If not though, what is your source as to a Monday showing and where will this be shown? Where did you see it?
If it's driven by the right, though, it wouldn't come out Monday, it would be held for a more strategic moment. You are correct, though, if the content is as described it would be a showstopper and one that Obama would not be able to overcome. Frankly, I'm totally skeptical, but as a Hillary supporter and first an U.S.A. supporter such a tape clearly should be revealed before June 3rd, or at the latest before the convention.

We clinton supporters ALWAYS knew the republicans were keeping their mouths shut about Obama so they could SWIFT BOAT him to death in the general election.
I cant wait to see the video.

west coast
Obama is trying to DITCH his church, so I suspect playing it 3 months from now will allow Obama to worm his way out of it easier.
I think the republicans didnt expect him to ditch his church.
Perhaps Obama's staff caught wind of the fact the republicans have it.

The DNC has cloaked the entire primary election process in disgrace! Ickes was right, delegates were hijacked on saturday in Michigan, from Sen. Clinton, and awarded to Obama, a man who did not receive a single vote from those many hundreds of thousands of citizens who left their homes and jobs on a winter tuesday to make their voices heard. Obama chose to remove his name from the ballot in Michigan, depriving those citizens of the choice to vote for him, yet the Machine gave him nearly as many delegates as Clinton anyway! She did not campaign, or run ads in Michigan or Florida (like Obama did in FL), somehow though the fat cats and elitists awarded him nearly as many delegates as Clinton. The real audacity of hope is that the Obama campaign expects us people who he couldn't care less about, to vote for him in November against McCain, well he can just keep hoping! I'm out and maybe never will return to this dishonest party.

CGeast,
Larry Johnson, who seems to be the source of this video claim, does seem to have a bit of a track record, if one is to believe his posted claims, although he seems to be a bit of a self-promoter. There is an extensive posting on wikipedia about him, but I frankly can't tell if he self-posted that too. He claims to have worked in counter-terrorism in the late 80's for the state department, and still works in the arena as a private consultant. He does get tapped as a reference by other bloggers, but they could be a small connected pool, perhaps other ex-CIA types interested in jointly pulling the wool over America's eyes.
So at this point I'm still at least 90% skeptical, although he does deliver a time certain to release it, as of 9 AM on Monday. If it doesn't happen then this needs to be the end of such nonsense, future such claims will be DOA.
If it's true, though, I would say that the cliche that you should not ever count the Clintons out would start carrying a bit of mysticism with it, nothing short of a miracle.
I don't wish for racism in any corner, but if it's there the sun should be shown on it and let's get it on.

CGeast,
By the way, your analysis as to the driver for the RNC certainly makes good sense. My thought was that Obama was concerned that the press might play the rules committee settlement in his disfavor so he came out with a contravening story to try to capture the ink. Just the opposite happened, so he may have shot himself in the foot, if that is indeed the sole driver. It seems like he would have better intel and projections about how this would play in the press, so it makes sense that there is something else afoot and he wants to trump it. If it turns out to truly be a spousal rant about "whitey" then its certain that the American public will ever allow Michelle Obama to occupy the White House. The guy would have to divorce her between now and November as his only fallback position.
It's not so clear that the Democratic Party would hold him to the same standard, though, we tend to forgive people's connections to a fault.

General elections are won and lost on a LOT less than this.
John Kerry is a distinguished war hero with an impeccable past. Rich with experience .
He got SWIFT BOATED and lost an election he should have won.
But somehow Obama is going to survive all this in a general election setting?
With FURIOUS Clinton supporters on top of all of Obamas other headaches?
How ???????????????????????????
Posted by: cgeast | Jun 1, 2008 1:58:58 AM
May be a little bit longer shot for him, but he still could still slip by on delegate math. Enough of the remaining SD's could buy that he's not responsible for his wife's actions, and throw up other cases, like Kerry's wife. I absolutely agree that he would not make it through the general on this one, but I'm not as confident about the Demo nomination, again, if this rumor is true. Logically, you would expect a bit of a backlash from the pledged delegates, though, and his original speech on race will now become a liability for him. It already has because of Wright and the other pastor guy, who's name now escapes me.

i have no idea if they really have a tape of Michelle ranting.
I dont think even the most diehard Obama supporter would honestly say shes not capable of it. She is pretty darn angry .
But having Michelle Obama ranting and raving on tape is so detrimental to his career, its possible they were waiting to show it during the fall for more effect right at voting time.
But if he quit his church, they very well may have to play it right now.
The surge gaffe doesnt mean much right now. Its nowhere near as big as the delegate split and Obama's church.

is it just me or is anyone else sick of Donna Brazille.........I mean really.

I am sick of her too.

All due respect to the Hillary supporters. You guys are awesome and you have fought a brilliant battle for her nomination. I have much respect for your choice. I too was once a Clinton supporter and I voted for Bill 2 times.
I made a conscience decision to switch to Obama in the voting booth in the California primary. I didn't make a hasty switch. I was in the booth and a light went on in my head and all I could hear was "CHANGE WE CAN BELIEVE IN" and" YES WE CAN" and I am not easily influenced politically. For the first time in my 42 years as a registered democratic voter I felt that something good could come from his message.
It is not going to be an easy assignment but with all of us democrats working together we can help our economy and we can find a better solution to the ongoing war in Iraq. I am proud of the DNC for making a tough decision the opposition was very tough. I salute all of the committee members for doing the right thing.
In all honesty the people of Florida and Michigan were lead astray by the republican political figure heads in their states. They all knew there were alternative remedies to their voting schedule but they failed to get it done. Going forward the Florida elections committee needs to renovate their system so it
accommodates each parties voting timeline.
Michagan made a good point that needs to be addressed no states should have the advantage to have early primaries I think the committee needs to revisit the current policy and include those issues in CHANGE WE CAN BELIEVE IN. Vote OBAMA 20008

Hey Lou.
I can tell you without a DOUBT, your post is the BEST Obama post I have EVER seen.
EVER.
If all you Obama supporters would start talking like LOU, Obama wont have much to worry about with many Clinton supporters.
But he will still have problems with conservative 'reagan' democrats who are still choked at him for his bitter gate comments.
He needs to work for their vote.
Obama could solve many of his problems by offering HIllary the VP spot.
She is definitely interested in change, and in all fairness, its the voters will.

I love Donna Brazile!I always look forward to seeing her on This Week. Her perspective is always "real". She always lays it on the table (no pun intended)and tells it what it is. I can't wait to see her this morning after watching her yesterday at the Rules Committee meeting.

Hey! Enraged:
Shut the hell up you fool! You must be a republican right wing...if you keep that stupid trap open a minute longer the flies buzzing around your stinkhole might fly in. F...ing Idiot!
Posted by: Bishop9109 | Jun 1, 2008 6:24:22 AM
Donna Brazille doesn't have to commit.
Why? Because we already know that she is for Obama.
Hey Donna! I got news for you; that is, the DNC Rules Committee gave Michigan and Florida 1/2 vote for each delegate.
However, to protest the unDemocratic National Party's Rules Committee, I giving my full "one" vote to John McCain, and I encourage all Hillary supporters to give their respective full "one" vote to John McCain too!

Fact: Obama is not a muslim. He is a christian.Religion is not a problem.
Fact:Obama is a Black American.Race and color do not matter.America is ready for a Black president ? media and men bias against a woman
Fact:The TUC is spewing racism / anti american / anti semetic / pro terrorist sentiments for the past 20 years. It did not happen after BO decided to run for presidency
Fact:The congregation of TUC particpated fully in this kind of denigration of American values. The post 911 MSNBC video of Rev Wright shows Michelle Obama in the front row and standing up to applaud and sit down
Reasoning: BO like his wife was in this church for the past 20 years and was as vigorous and ardent participant of the pulpit BS.
Fact:BO has tried to distance himself very slowly in increasingly shifting language for poliical convenience just in order to be come the President of the US.He has tried to justify TUC and Wright, then increasingly disssociate before dumping everyone to save himself. This man is no uniter. He will sell his mother.
Fact:BO is no ordinary man. He wants to become the President of the US and the leader of the free world.
Question:Is the nation as dumb as the Democratic party and its leaders to elect this man as a president?
Disclosure:I am a Floridian Reagan Democrat and registered independent. My voting record is as follows. Reagan X2. Clinton X 2. Bush Jnr X 1. That was my most stupid vote ever and I will regret it forever. This man is the worst president in our history. Kerry X 1. Now despite hating the Republican party with such great animosity, I am voting Dem for congressional and JM for presidency if HRC is not the choice.

Hillary Clinton Supporter:
WHAT DO YOU WANT???????????????????????
This is an election. This is not fantasy land.
Hillary Clinton: We all know the votes wont count
Terry McCauliff: Threatened to do the same thing when he was over the DNC
ICKES: Voted that Fl and MI should not count
NOW
Each story is DIFFERENT
Obama did not campaign in either state and you know that when Obama hits the ground in a state the numbers begin to tighten and I believe he had a good chance at winning Michigan.
STOP CRYING ALREADY. BIG BABIES. REMEMBER ... YOU ARE ADULTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

But the rules that will determine the next president of the united states of america...... let's go willy nilly make up baseless claims, change the rules to suit our favor, threaten the party by chanting "Let Go McCain????????????"
Wow and they are going to Mars to look for aliens... THEY'RE HERE

AWWW
Do we have to listen to Terry McAuliff? He is such a looney.
Maybe he should go over to Fox since he says they are so fair and balanced.
Posted by: Omentum | Jun 1, 2008 8:15:51 AM
They all will be promoting obama.
The major security threat this nation has ever faces.
He can not beat McCain.
The primaries are not over.
