Coming Up: Emanuel, Pawlenty, Nader
June 28, 2008 6:40 PM
This Sunday, Rep. Rahm Emanuel (D-IL) and Gov. Tim Pawlenty (R-MN) join George to debate the major political news of the week: the two landmark Supreme Court decisions, the unity effort of Sens. Obama and Clinton, the raft of new ’08 polls this week, and Obama’s shift to the center politically.
Then, Independent presidential candidate Ralph Nader discusses his run at the White House.
On the "Roundtable," The Huffington Post’s Arianna Huffington, National Review’s Byron York, Townhall.com’s Hugh Hewitt, and The Nation’s Katrina vanden Heuvel debate the week's politics.

Let's watch as Nader tries to destroy the dreams of the Democratic party once again. The spoiler is doing anything and everything he can to impede progress. He's as arrogant as Obama, in my opinion.

Nader may be the saving grace for America.
Let there be no question that America is being SOLD OUT by some corrupt people that have learned out to get around the system.
The New York Sun reported that funds raised by Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.), "more than $118 million, or one-quarter of the total raised in the February cycle, [was] banked without disclosure of who gave the funds or where the donations originated."
No Transparency - The money is coming from hundreds of thousands of donations of $200 or less, which have been widely praised for democratizing the system for funding White House bids. However, the surge in low-dollar gifts has come at the cost of transparency, since federal law only requires campaigns to itemize donations when a donor gives more than $200.
And if Paul Harvey were still alive he would say and now you have the rest of the story. Have you any questions why OBAMA “opt” out of the federal election financing. He had to lie to his followers about absolutely taking the financing and then after he is the nominee he backs out saying the “system is broken”. This of course is the same system (nothing had changed over the months) but his people bought it.
Good bye to the American dream, hello to big government and perhaps a future dictator. It can't happen in America---well it is!

I was extremely disappointed with George on how he handled the "attempted" talk between the Senator and the Governor!! George TOTALLY ALLOWED the obnoxious Senator to control the whole "discussion"! The Gov. NEVER got to finish a sentence or get an answer back from the Senator when he was "lucky" enough to get one in! I fault George for not taking control of his Democratic FRIEND and allow the Governor to speak. This is just another example of how the Liberal media tries to control information. Please try to be more fair or atleast get a more combative Republican on that will be as rude as the Senator was today IF you can find one!! I was very disappointed in George today with his lack of backbone!!!

Dear George,
I've been watching This Week for years. I appreciate your efforts to get the bottom of issues big and small. I have a couple of suggestions to make your efforts more focused.
I have noticed that you often have one representative from each political camp during many of your interviews. Unfortunately this results in two people trying really hard to get in their own talking points. We get no depth and nothing new as far as content.
Perhaps you focus on a specific issue and get experts on to talk about it. You can talk to the experts in depth about details of a problem or issue and possible solutions. Then you can look at candidates positions and how they fit or don't fit with the expert views. I would appreciate programming that didn't skim over topics with simple sound bites.
I want NEWS and FACTS not talking points and sound bites!
And my last word: THANK YOU for mixing up the Roundtable! I was so sick of George Will and the SAME OLD points of view from the SAME OLD faces. Hurrah for change and a variety of opinion. Indeed it is the only way we will get to the gray in between the black and the white!
A weekly viewer,
A Hayes

This roundtable is really disappointing...
What is this? FNC?
I watch this to listen to, at least, an attempt at objective analysis - not just another intemperate argument between a big-mouthed righty and a big-mouth lefty.
What a waste of my time...
If this is the direction the roundttable is going, I'm done with "This Week"!!!

Where did you find the right-winger, Hugh Hewitt?
I can't believe you gave such an uninformed
and ignorant person a place on your panel. You should have gone to the local bar and picked someone in a suit. Was that the criteria? I'll be
watching NBC until you raise your standards.

I just turned off your Sunday morning
program hosted by George S., which I
normally enjoy. But to watch Emanuel and
Pawlenty bicker,argue,contradict and
generally rail on one another was more
than I could stomach this morning. With
all the fighting,condescension,
partisanship,gridlock and problems
facing Washington, not to mention the
country, this is all you could come up
with? Somebody, somewhere needs to start
paying attention. THIS COUNTRY IS IN
SERIOUS TRUBLE!!

I think it's really nice you make a place on your panel for the intellectually challenged Arianna Huffington.

....Well said Jack Howard. Perhaps replacing Cokie Roberts with the 2 mental midgets today was not such a great idea..........

George, did you pick the guests for this program? Please give us something other than the same old us/them arguments. Ralph Nader? What a waste of time.

I watch This Week in hopes that it will clarify who will make the major issues of the American people a high priority, and lead me to a presidential candidate. So far, after listening to the political guests and Round Table discussions, I am even more disgusted with our choices than ever. There was a Round Table comment today about how the economy is not the American people's main issue. I absolutely disagree. The economy is tanking because of many issues combined (loss of jobs due to NAFTA and big business, cost of illegal immigration, lack of oil companies allowing the development of alternative fuels, the cost of the war, and rising cost of health care). So far, I haven't seen anyone with the passion and dedication to seriously tackle this economy issue. So, next time This Week has discussions with political guests and Round Table discussions, please ask them HOW "specifically" this can be accomplished to save our flailing country and WHO will actually step up to the plate to concentrate on the American people.

You know what I am tired of? It is talking heads who appear on national programs and purport to "know" what all we "unwashed plebeians" are thinking
!

I realize you need to have all points of view represented, but your right winger this week was like a throw back to the 50s. Why have someone on who absolutely will not listen to any other point of view? This is the type of person who cements my determination that there must be change in Washington. The current administration is so out of touch with the struggles of people and this clown just underlined that with a big red pen!

OK, I'm on the west coast and haven't seen it yet, doesn' show in my locale until 4 PM. I was debating whether to stick around or go to the zoo. Sounds like I'll get the same outcome in either case so I'll get some sunshine at the real zoo instead of the beltway zoo.
=======================================
Could Obama have accepted the 85 million and given the other money to charity? Think about it.

I have to agree with the comments of "A Hayes". This roundtable was a waste. I don't want to hear talking points in the roundtable. I want at least an attempt at objective discourse. I have reached the point where the first half of the show isn't worth watching as it is nothing more than one side talking over the other in an attempt to get talking points out. If we get the same from the bottom half of the hour, I'll cross "This Week" off the list. George: Take control and hold people accountable in the first half and choose a different roundtable than the one today for the bottom half.

George did a superb job interviewing Nader - AS A DEMOCRAT ATTACK DOG. Did anyone catch the tone of the questions that revolved around the "Why are you trying to hurt Obama?" theme? It looks like Boy George is shilling for a job in Obama's administration. A Tim Russert he isn't. Let's see if he has Bob Barr on his show in the future and comes across as a REPUBLICAN hack defending McCain. This was George's most pathetic, WORST, interview ever.
BTW - did anyone notice the "CITGO for America" commercials they were running, brought to us by our favorite South American CORPORATE dictator, Hugo Chavez.

If it wasn't so sad, it would almost have been funny watching Gov. Pawlenty say that the economy is in good shape and Hewitt say that Iraq and Afganistan are stable.

hugh hewitt is nothing but a cheer leader for the like minded and a fear mongerer.
huffington nailed him to the wall and i heard the entire exchange he tried to lie about.
the whole premise of his show on friday was that electing obama would cause the United States to be attacked.
he said the same thing in 2006 about a democrat congress saying over and over again "they will get us killed"
fortunately, he is such an incompetent political hack that every single issue he makes a prediction on, the opposite happens.
he said harriet miers would be a supreme.
he said the republicans would hold the house and senate.
he said romney would be the nominee.
hugh hewitt is simply a second rate talk show host who bases his arguments on emotion rather than facts and logic.

HUGH HEWITT'S NEANDERTHAL OUTLOOK HAS NO PLACE ON NATIONAL NETWORK TELEVISION. WOULD YOU GIVE EQUAL TIME TO JOE MCCARTHY OR DAVID DUKE? IF TODAY'S SHOW IS ANY SIGN, YES YOU WOULD. ENOUGH WITH THE DIVISIVE HATE CATCH PHRASES OF THE HARD RIGHT!!! WE MUST COME TOGETHER AS A NATION AND HEWITT FEEDS THE FIRES OF DIVISION AND CLOSE MINDED OBSTINANCE IN A WAY WORTHY OF THE MASTER KARL ROVE HIMSELF.
