This Sunday, George talks energy and oil prices with our exclusive guests: Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison (R-TX), Rep. Ed Markey (D-MA), Red Cavaney, President and CEO of the American Petroleum Institute, and economist Jeffrey Sachs, Director of the Earth Institute at Columbia University.
On the "Roundtable," ABC News' Donna Brazile, Matthew Dowd, Cokie Roberts and Sam Donaldson debate the week's politics.

And this will solve which problem? The one where the oil companies are making billions off us or the one where Republican like Bush, Chaney, etc. are making billions off us?

Size matters.
Vote for Obama.

short and to the point--unless we some kind of energy reform--all the drilling will have little or no affect on oil prices----oil is sold on world market and oil companies would simply make billions more and we will still pay high gas prices----we need to invest in alternative power and fuel--and start a competitive market.stop the corruption in washington --put an end to foreign lobbyist--the last 16 years have all but buried us.

rodney.
You forgot to mention it will take 10 or 20 years until this 'alternative' energy can kick in, even if we start right now.
What do we do until then?
Drink more Obama kool aid to avoid reality .

dont be a fool the same applys if we drill everywhere they want to
also----where is the shortage i have not seen a single station out of gas-oil company likes suckers who believe their crap.----where are super efficient cars--big business will not stop until they have it all---in the seventys we had oil embargo in the seventys-- and since then nothing has been done-- we have becoma a country of fools being used by big oil.

Yet you didnt answer my question rodney.
Got any source to see Obama's magic wand to solve everyones problems?
I can symathize with your WIZARD OF OZ brainwashing.
I can buy you some knee pads to service Obama if you wish.
But thats not going to change the fact Obama is a tool, incapable of changing anything.
Posted by: sid | Jun 20, 2008 4:43:47 PM
what does obama have to do with oil--it is the mcbush people on the take--stick with them and you may be paying 10.00 per gallon----your choice--i really do not care.
Posted by: rodney | Jun 20, 2008 4:47:47 PM
what is the solution from Saint Obama for next 5-10 years. I am not asking after 10 years.
I do not like Bush, but McCain is right on drilling offshore, we will get oil within 5 years.
Nuclear and alternative Energy will help us after than.
Posted by: john | Jun 20, 2008 4:54:37 PM
john
where is the shortage----oil will simply be sold on world market and will save you nothing.
nuclear and alternatives must have priority--
Posted by: rodney | Jun 20, 2008 4:57:44 PM
Im not a fan of either Mc Cain or Obama.
But what is for sure, is that Obama never comes up with any solutions for anything.
Simply rhetoric.
We have to drill, regardless if takes years to get the benefit. What do we do instead? Wait so it takes even longer?
All the machinery in the US for farming and otherwise needs Oil.
That isnt going to change for 20 years -unless we spend multi TRILLIONS to buy all new cars and new equipment all of a sudden.
At least Mc Cain is willing to drill, while also promoting alternative energy for the long term.
Obama is on the wrong side of this election.
Posted by: Chad | Jun 20, 2008 4:59:18 PM
Good points Chad.
Rodney.
france uses 80% nuclear. England and most of Europe all use nuclear.
Mc Cain wants nuclear. Its simply a no brainer.
Obama doesnt.
But dont worry. Give it a couple of polls to show he is on the wrong side and he will flip flop on it.
Posted by: sid | Jun 20, 2008 5:01:34 PM
Hey Rodney.
Just a curious point.
You say we must give alternatives a chance like nuclear.
You failed to mention that Mc Cain wants them, and Obama doesnt.
Posted by: Tompkins | Jun 20, 2008 5:02:47 PM
chad what benifit do you think you will get.bush kissed arab butt to produce more and was told there ins no need as no shortage--simply political crap---
Posted by: rodney | Jun 20, 2008 5:03:31 PM
tomkins---as i understand pa has built 13 ethenol plants-but guess what----only two are operating--and at 10 % capacity------when is the last time you have seen a station with alternate fuel.
i do not know who can change this but someone had better.
Posted by: rodney | Jun 20, 2008 5:07:05 PM
Hey rodney.
How much in tax do we get for buying Oil off the middle east ?
That for starters should be motivating enough to drill our own oil.
Besides, we have enough petroleum reserves right now do DUMP on the US market to drive the prices back down under $3 .
We need more drilling and sell it here. Not all over the world. Decrease demand HERE. Not world wide.
Meanwhile, we start building Nuclear plants, solar, wind and go to EV vehicles over the next 10 years.
Pump the clean coal CO2 underground and make coal into electricity.
Posted by: Chad | Jun 20, 2008 5:10:06 PM
Obama has said many times we need to invest in Wind, solar, nuclear, and coal for energy.
This is also where he hopes to bring on more jobs for america.
Do you guys not watch msnbc news, cnn political news at night. maybe you should. Any cable news will better inform you on the issues that Obama and McCain have. McCain's is different hour to hour but he does have them.
Posted by: Becky | Jun 20, 2008 5:14:19 PM
chad
only 10% of what we use is produced here--we cannot be independant on oil alone----did you know that we had an experimental nuclear power plant built i believe in the 60s--it used spent rods and if expanded we would have enough laying around to power us for 1000 years---carter had it closed down due to pressure from greenpeace-----and slick willy had it torn down---i think big oil had something to do with it.
Posted by: rodney | Jun 20, 2008 5:17:39 PM
Obama is not for nuclear energy. He voted against it.
Posted by: Omentum | Jun 20, 2008 5:24:55 PM
Becky.
Why would we watch MSNBC or CNN?
Its that like simply attaching electrodes to our heads and applying Obama directly to our foreheads?
Sorry, unlike Donna Brazille, or Chris Matthews , we dont get shivers up our legs every time Obama tugs on his package.
We arent drinking the kool aid made up of absolutely nothing.
Posted by: sid | Jun 20, 2008 5:27:51 PM
this is not about obama or mccain------we need to hold whoever gets in office accountable--these jerks work for us--you need to let them know that and that we are boss.
