"She was just one of the most outstanding young individuals that I've had the privilege of working with in my 31 years as an educator," her high school principal, John P. Latini, told The Associated Press. "Caitlin was a leader among our students."

When looking at all the photos Caitlin's picture stands out to me. Just from her smile I can tell that she was an absolute joy to be around. My prayers go out to her family and all the others. This is all so sad.

There are no words to leaven the pain of your loss and this tragedy. But the following is a humble offering that hopefully will bring some comfort, when you feel the sun shining again:

In the rising of the sun and in its going down, we remember them.

In the blowing of the wind and in the chill of winter, we remember them.

In the opening of buds and in the warmth of summer, we remember them.

In the beginning of the year and when it ends, we remember them.

So long as we live they, too, shall live for they are now a part of us as we remember them.

As I sit here at my computer in California I am looking at Caitlin's picture knowing she was a victim of that awful day. But her smile is infectious. I smile back.
My heart goes out to her parents and her extended family.

As the events of the day of 16 April 2007 unfolded on my computer with breaking news updates and as photos of those the world lost that day became available the photo of Caitlin appeared and my office completely was lit up with her smile. Immediately I knew the world had been deprived of an individual who would change the world in a positive way. After reading all the mini biographies of all 32 it's hard to fathom why such gifted and spirited persons were taken in this way. My prayers and condolances to Caitlin's family and the families of the others.

Those eyes, that smile. What a beautiful young lady. I wish I would have known her. My heart hurts for your family. May God somehow provide you comfort.
